Re: Project: Shiro
Well, it looks like I will be taking crawdadfox's advice, with heavy influence from Nate at Porterbuilt, and building my spare swb frame and then swapping the sheet metal over. (I'll stash the original frame rails in my shed for ever just so I have them, damn you OCD!)

But I have 20x8 wheels with the same 5.25" bs. So they are tucked 1/2" more than your wheels with stock a-arms. I think you will be fine with your narrowed a-arms. (plus these are cambered in a little since it's air'd out) |

Big Brown made a stop by the house today with some product from PBFab. The funny thing is that we live in a small town, my wife went to school with our UPS guy Carlos. Over the last week we have been telling him he might want take tonight off, but said no way because he wanted to see what comes in! This morning when they were loading trucks one of the other drivers was complaining about having a lot on his truck. Another guy we know who loads the trucks yells over to the guy, "What are you b***hing about, Carlos has almost another whole truck in his truck!!"

Re: Project: Shiro
Awesome!!! When do you plan to start mocking everything up on the other frame?

Re: Project: Shiro
I'd like to start this weekend, but we have also started building a new house so I have some honey dos to get the house we currently live in ready to sell. We'll see if I can work in some time in the garage!
|
Re: Project: Shiro
Cool! I know the feeling we will be moving soon also and my wife has me doing all kinds of crap too.
|
Re: Project: Shiro

Re: Project: Shiro
Very cool build. I hope there's still a few of these trucks around that aren't too expensive when my boys get old enough. You guys are going to get me killed with all the nice porterbuilt stuff. I'd love to do a pb coilover setup but my wife is already on me about the truck this year. There's always next year I guess

Re: Project: Shiro
It says wheels tomorrow .... !! And I think you might have got the last pair of 20X8.5's, I have another customer who bought some and one of them is misboxed .... and I cant find another wheel to complete the set..
I cant wait to see this thing put together ..... gonna be neat. |
Re: Project: Shiro
Looking great buck. This thing is going to be killer. I wish I'd known about the pb coilover set up back when I was doing suspension on mine. I guess I could always tear it back down and start over!

Got the new wheels and tires mounted up today... Pics are washed out a bit, I'll try and get better ones tomorrow. I think the narrowed a-arms are going to do well with these wheels.

Re: Project: Shiro
Truck is looking good BUCK
|
Re: Project: Shiro
Looks great. It's hard to get a pic of black wheels on a light colored truck
|
Re: Project: Shiro
Thanks guys!!
I am going to widen the rear wheel tubs a little, doing some research on that now. I like the semi-tucked position of the wheel in the wheel well, just need some more room on the inside. ;) Using narrowed a-arms up front will align the front and rear track and give the ruck an awesome look. :metal: |
Re: Project: Shiro
I love the new wheels buck!! I really want the same wheels on my 99 crew cab but in a 22" wheel. I've been talking to tommy about it!

Do those wheel centers have a slick feel to them or a rough texture like my gray Daytonas?

Re: Project: Shiro
Ah, I understand the question better now. Yes the part that is powder coated black is smooth. The bare aluminum part has a machined finish to it.

Re: Project: Shiro
Looks good Buck..Always liked black wheels on a white truck.

Maybe a moot point depending on how tempted you are to put in that LS. ;-) |
