Also a few pics of the fleetside. Got the front end moved over from the stepside. It will have to come off again, but not until the stepside is mechanically moving again.

All clearance issues seem good, minus exhaust, which I believe we have figured out with the horse shoe mount.

Got the alternator bracket back from Captainfab....and great work!!!!
Bolted up just fine and the machined areas clear just fine. I will have to make a spacer for the top bracket to the alternator..no biggie. And looks like i'll have to go to a v8 alternator pulley as the I6 pulley is about 1/2" off, but has that spacer built onto the pulley.

Other than the beautiful finish, that alternator bracket could pass for factory. Nice fit.

Yeah, the 348/409 forum is to thank for the bracket modification and thanks to Captainfab for his skills.

The chrome will go away in the long run and it'll be painted as I want a stock appearance to the engine. Not worried if the bracket is correct, but it'll be painted like the originals. It just needs to be functional for the alternator.

Sorry about the double pics....just realized I posted some of the new parts for the fleetside on the wrong build. Picked up a factory shroud, 4 way hazards and a deluxe seat donar for the truck. Will convert the seat to a 63 deluxe seat. Shroud fits in nicely.

Thanks Don. I can only take a little credit on the mount. The concept was from the 348/409 guys, I did the work I could on the mount and Captainfab did the rest. But came out exactly as I wanted/needed it.

The OEM rear bumper brackets came in from a forum member last night. In great shape too, looks like the original paint. They will be nice additions to the truck.

Also got the new parking brake cable as the PO decided it was easier to take bolt cutters to than unbolt from the frame.

The day/night mirror head arrived last night too. Took around 15min and polished up the stainless steel real nice. The mirror head arm is heavily pitted, so I won't use it, I have another oem arm that is in much better shape. This should help looking out that BBW as the little mirror head doesn't do much for the big glass.

Finally getting the parts room cleaned out some with all the stuff going on the stepside, but now looks like its filling with fleetside parts.

Took the cluster apart to clean, lube and inspect gauges. Just took a dry paintbrush to knock off the dust and a dab of toothpaste to polish up the lens and remove the overspray Will take some minor work to mount this vintage dixco, but I think it looks right at home in there. This will be a nice addition to this build. Will paint the bezel once I solidify color. But I think for an hours work it looks pretty good. The black bezel I've had, just tossed it on since it was already cleaned up.
Old coffee can makes great storage bin for harness and small parts.

Nice stash of parts pimpston65....did you get the two rear end mounts for the overload springs?

Haven't gotten to do anything with the seat yet, but I knew it would be a few months out. I need to order some more material from SMS. I think I have enough vinyl left over to take care of the color.

Did you still need the spiral shocks I have? No problem either way, just let me know and I'll get them off this week.

Re: 1963 C-10 SWB BBW Fleetside in NC

Is your truck a short bed or long? I found that some minor work is required to fit the auxiliary springs on the short bed. Just a little trimming on the end of the outer bumper brackets where the mount to the frame. Think it was around 3/8" I had to trim off...but other than that they are bolt and play.

Found a NOS 63 farm truck plate still in the matching original envelope today for the fleetside. These plates are very tough to find and especially in NOS. Will be a nice addition to the fleetside.

Thanks, here some better detailed pics. Was never issued and has the matching nc dmv paper envelope. Nc lets us run year of make plates at no cost. Just have to be able to produce registered plate if asked. I keep the registered plate in the glovebox with a copy of the nc statute. Have had to show it 2x in 5 years.

All interior cab prep done on the stepside and it got dark, so figured id build a vacuum gauge for the fleetside gauge cluster. Used an older pontiac vac gauge and a 60-63 delete plate
Took 20 minutes total and had the parts on hand so no extra cost
..minus decal. I will have to order a new vacuum gauge decal.

Took the needle of using two spoons apply pressure under the base of the needle on the sides. They always pop of great this way. Removed the cover of the gauge by the two tiny bolts. Took the back side of the rivet off using a small phillips head screwdriver. The back of the rivet is soft.
.maybe 7-8 turns and it'll let the delete face free. Used the old gauge as the template and drilled a 3/16" hole for the needle. Bolt the new face on & thos is where the decal will apply....but you guys get the idea. I see these vac gauges go for $20 all the time if I had to purchase one on ebay. With a delete plate, gauge & decal and maybe 20-25 minutes...it'll make a nice addition to the truck and save $200.
The gauge itself is identical to my original gauge in my stepside. The delete is the same size plate..so once redecaled it'll look oem
