Thanks, John. I've got them both done now except the mod on the brackets and some paint. More pics soon when they're finished.

This will be here by next weekend plus a harmonic balancer and flexplate. I'm also going to check on a 700r4 trans, Tru-ram headers, and HEI distributor. I would like to know some opinions on what HEI to get. I know there are some that don't fit too well with the firewall in these trucks. I'm tossing around the idea of MSD pro-billet. What do you think?

Way cool on the motor showing up.
There are quite a few some small diameter distributors out there to choose from for clearance issues.
Good luck with the motor. Can't wait to see it live.

I'm getting pretty stoked right now. I just checked and my engine and stuff will be on the dock in Portland tomorrow and hopefully delivered Wed. which is the start of my weekend. I'm going to work on getting my 700r4 ordered, also. Have any of you dealt with Transmission Exchange based here in Portland? They have a heavy duty trans that I've been looking at that sounds pretty good.

Thanks T.J. Not a 383, though. That was one of the options I had thought about but in the end decided to go with the 350. 330hp and 380ft/lbs torque.
This should get Sanity down the road just fine, I think

One more package showed up this afternoon. This is it for now for the engine.
Still got to get the transmission.
New Tru-Ram exhaust. I went with the cast iron for more of a period look and I plan on painting them cast so they'll look as is.
And here's the elusive character behind all this. :metal:

Can somebody help me out? I need a pair of sb motor mount perches for Sanity. I also have a real nice pair of 6cyl mounts that have been blasted and painted with Eastwood extreme chassis black that I would trade if interested.

I could be wrong, but I think the 67-72 are a little shorter.

They are about an inch too tall for my 62 (but fit with spacers on top of frame to take up the extra space) I think somewhere along the way the frame rails got taller? In 63 maybe?

Thanks, man. I move pretty slow these days but still in a forward direction. Thanks for looking in.:metal:

Well, it was a rain free day in Portland so I decided to uncover the chassis and turn it around in the garage so the engine side is more accessible for the winter projects. It hasn't been out of the garage in a while so I thought I take a few pics.
I also cleaned the casting marks and crud off of my serpentine belt brackets, smoothed them up a little in a couple of places and bead blasted them. Just waiting on paint and their done.
Sorry about the picture quality. It was getting a little dark and I didn't realize they were bad until I posted.

The next one I do will be stripped down to the frame like yours.
I can only imagine how much easier it is to work on stuff like the engine and brake lines with the cab off.
I have a nice creeper, but I dont love it that much...

I bet you are looking forward to getting some stuff done this winter !! :metal:

Thanks. I can't wait to drop the engine & trans in but want to finish running the brake lines first.

It is much easier, especially for a fat, old, crippled up mess like me. It takes me longer to get up and down off of the creeper than doing the job at hand. :metal:
I'm really looking forward to doing some mechanical work again. The body work needed to take a rest for a bit.
I went down to the trans shop talked to them about transmissions yesterday and after hearing what they had to say, I ordered a HD 700r4 that will be built to more than handle my engine hp and torque and it will be ready by next weekend. I also ordered a CPP tubular center crossmember and mount. By spring I hope to have the chassis and drivetrain completed. :metal:
