Wow, look what I found yesterday, believe me, I don't need more trucks but I'm going after this one, gota have it cause I'm a front wheel drive kind of guy. I don't know anything about this series sheet metal, can someone tell me what year to what year they ran this cab and clip and what model designations they were. Sorry no close ups yet, was busy hauling cat 955 home.

looks like a 1960-63 judging by the wrap around front windsheild.

Re: GM Semis

Right, '60 to '63 GMC Series B.

Believe they were made the same as the others, '60 to '66.

Probably has one of the larger V-6 Gas Engines.

Don't know on the grill, is kind of strange, thought maybe it was after market modification. May take a short drive sunday, 80 miles one way and see if its for sale, oh please let it be for sale, would be a nice light load for the 288. Let ya know if its good news, posting pics of yesterdays trip on my 69 Pete thread in a few minutes.

Another "B" series along the newer ? 90" cab? If you like 60-66's you'll like the B series, if you like 67-72's you probably like the 90" cab.

Cool looking fleet.

In that picture you can see what the Grille is supposed to look like.

I would say that the Grille on the truck that Peanutbutter is looking at got damaged in an "artistic" way.

Maybe they thought it would help the rad cool better, can't wait to get an up close look at it. Maybe I''ll be looking for a better grill ???

This tractor appears to be a little too light to be hauling a large trailer, probably a GM staged photo.

A few brochure covers on the B and others.

Good looking Brochures.

Another picture of the rare 6500 Conventional.

It's even the same color as the one I drove was.

Although it very well could have been staged, it would have been OK as long as it didn't exceed the GCVW.

Some companies would haul pretty light loads.

Good looking Road Tractor.

making the brosures that way is a dying artform , there hardly people left that can use pen and paint with brush or airbrush to make them on paper

Re: GM Semis

That all wheel drive B could possibly have a V12. How cool would that be?? Kinda doubt it,though, cuz it would move the gear boxes way back for the front drive.

I love them Bs. Some folks can like more than one series of trucks and I like 'em all!

In Post #290 the truck on the right may not have been built in '66 since the style on the left began that year. Not sure if they overlapped. The New Breed style (if you want to call it that) actually began in '66 with these trucks,if you consider them the same style as the C-series

I always thought it was the worst design ever until I saw this one and its growing on me real quick, especially when I saw that front axle. Couldn't get up there this weekend, turned out to be another work day.

O like all the snub-nose GMs from the early cabovers to the LCFs. I thought I had a Napco ad of a B-model.

Re: GM Semis

Now you're talking, where did you ever find this pic. I think this is my dream truck and I don't know why, bet you can't find me another one. I don't think there is a pic in any of the factory brochures of this configuration but I'll dig mine out and look again. There are 3 axle dumps but no 3 axle tractors.

Peanutbutter 06-20-2013 11:23 PM

Re: GM Semis

The dual air horns and fancy corner sails are a nice touch and probably factory installed, seems odd it looks like its got the small front axle with narrow fenders. I know some of you guys know more about these different axles? Makes me want to take that W900 KW frame and axles and make a clone. That would be alot of work.

So, does this truck exist today or has it gone by the wayside like most of them and thank you for posting it. I was beginning to think they never made one of these. I can't think of another picture of a 456 three axle factory tractor like this one.

I would have to check my books to be sure, but I seem to remember Tandems available in those years in the Conventional Cab.

Now, I could be dead wrong, but I would say that the Red and White '66 above was put together.

Some real nice Long Nose 9500's above. Great pictures.

The Green one in the center is a very early model. Probably a '66.

It also has those very rare Full Running Boards.

Just about all of them would have a Fuel Tank there instead.

Re: GM Semis

Also notice the optional Triple Horns on the Gold and White one.

That truck is either a '68 or '69.

A few years back I saw a day cab version of this truck . It was really narrow from front to back . I looked at the door and in 3" black stick on letters it spelled out Chili. Mo . for a location .

Then I started Laughing like a loon when I realized he had abbreviated the location .... Not enough room on the door for , Chillicothe, Missouri .
