Chevette, Thank you. Good deal on powering your bead roller. It is so much easier with it powered, plus you can do it yourself. You will have no problems with making the panels, I have seen your work.
oldman3, Thank you, It stinks when the computer goes down. I bet you had a lot of reading to catch up on. I have been busy as always. I traded some work for a complete S10 frame. I replaced my buddies rocker panels, cab corners, and made a few patch panels on his S10. The frame is for my 54 truck that I have been collecting parts for over a year now. I have basically a whole truck including a 350/ 700r4, 8.8 rear with disc brakes and now the s10 frame for less than a $1000. That also includes some really nice sheet metal. So tonight I made the lower steering column mount and finished welding the removable tranny tunnel and trimming it up on the back side. Next is some repair around the windshield area at the top. Nothing major. Then back on the drivers inner wheel well. I hope to finish them this weekend. Shannon |

oldman3, 99 to Life, mknittle, 48ChevBagged, Daze57, chevythechief, Thank you all.
I worked on the drivers inner wheel wells today for a couple hours. I had to put a bubble were the steering box hoses come out because it was going to be too close. Next is to finish off the front and make back filler pieces to tie back to the toe boards. I will have them finish this week hopefully. Shannon |

Re: 1948 Chevy / S10
Larry Lindley, Thank you. I have thought of making a custom set to replace the factory ones. But would be all custom with the panels bead rolled in them. But I have to find a good set of factory ones to go off. I have been thinking of it though. With the S10 there are too many things that could change, like how high or where the body is mounted and how the radiator support is mounted. I always like to have what I am working on so I know it fits.

Well it seems like forever since I posted last on it. I have been working on it off and on along with some bodywork on my buddies DD s10. I worked on it most of the day. Made a new top for the radiator cover/hood latch panel. Also made the front pieces to finish the wheel wells to the radiator support. Then made the back filler pieces to fit back to the toe boards. I have a few things to finish on them then they will be finished. I have a few little thing to finish up on then it is going home. Then onto the next project/projects.

Chevette, 99 to Life, oldman3, SSABMUD, Thank you all. I am really pleased with them.
I finished up the inner wells this morning and started to fix the rust around the windshield. Then got side tracked with getting ready for another bad storm. I had a generator give to me by my father in law 10 years ago and it did not run. So you know waiting to the last minute I decided to work on it. I tore the carb all apart. Had to solder a hole up in the float, cleaned everything up. Then tore the head off of it because of a stuck valve. Freed it up and put it back together. Fabbed up a gas tank out of a gas can. Then made up a adapter to start it with my cordless drill. It was missing all the starting stuff. It is a 5000 watt one and best of all $0. It runs great! I have a new sump pump so we will hopefully good to go. This year we are in better shape than last year for the flood/storm. Shannon |
Re: 1948 Chevy / S10

Re: 1948 Chevy / S10
Well the truck is gone now. It left on Saturday. There was a show and it was cold out so my buddy and me decided to take that to the show rather than both our trucks. It was on the trailer at the back of the show and it was funny to see the amount of people that checked it out.

Re: 1948 Chevy / S10

"Gotta love Neil Young for that saying". Ironic, you posted that. The wife and I are going to his concert on Nov. 11/12.

Re: 1948 Chevy / S10
Yeah I passed him up here in pittsburgh, wish I hadn't but tickets were like 70 bucks and I had so much other stuff going on, plus it was on a weekday and I work nonstop. oh the irony in life.

Re: 1948 Chevy / S10
Daverod, thank you. I do not know how I learned to do it. I think that it helps that I work in a machine shop and have worked in a fab shop also. So I think on the fly and just make what I need most times. Even if it is tools or fixtures to make something. I am 38 and have been messing with cars/trucks since I was 16 and I am into more than ever now. Also I have always been willing to try things and most times it had worked out. Glad you like it. I plan to make the under the hood panels on my panel truck when I have time. But have been super busy on other peoples projects. But I am happy that I can finally just drive it
