Re: PO has me PO'd

Thank you, just got a dbl row pulley for the PS, so I can play with that.

We just had a sickness, death in the family, funeral was today so I haven't had much chance to work on it.

How's that Mich. weather treating you? Bin pretty mild around here... J

Re: PO has me PO'd

Sorry to hear about your family.

The weather here is less than desirable...or...it sucks!

On a good note I went to Harbor Freight and picked up a media blast cabinet and 4 vehicle dollies today. Maybe this will give me some motivation o get something done.

jaros44sr 12-13-2007 03:24 PM

Re: PO has me PO'd

Thanks.
You will be amazed how helpful the cabinet is to clean parts, that was my third tool to buy along time ago. My cabinet is about 4' and I would not have it any other way, but my compressor is down rite now, and have to rebuild it. The dollies are useful to, since I have a small shop. My Harbor Frt. is about 15 min. from me. Great place to look around. They had a new compressor for 90 bucks and I should have bought instead of buying parts to rebuild mine. Oh well hindsight, 20/20!!!

Soooooo, you may be getting started? Good time of the year, nothing happening.... good luck and post pics

Hey I was talking to Dave's Amnesia the other day, he's headed my way in the spring. He wants mine dun

Chevyman63 12-13-2007 04:34 PM

Re: PO has me PO'd

Looks like you are coming right along on the Jimmy. I hope to make some good progress between now and christmas, I will post pics for sure.
Good luck with your compressor.

Isn't Dave from your way originally? Nice guy. I've got to get over to his place soon.

The Jimmy should be done by spring...won't it? Things seem to be rolling along nicely.

Good luck.

Re: PO has me PO'd

Yeah, he's from York, Pa. He said his Dad is tired of seeing pics. and wants to see the real thing:lol:

I'm shooting for spring....

Re: PO has me PO'd

Well Gentlemen I just spent 4 hours at Tri Pro. What an experience, shelf upon shelf, rack upon rack, warehouse upon warehouse, of every piece you need to build your truck. Nice stuff, I don't want to hear any more complaints about the product, it is top shelf or GM wouldn't give them the license to put their name on it....

Every piece I picked up had the wt. of a good quality stamping, no waves, and tight bends. All in all, a piece that should be on all our trucks.

You could build you truck from this place. When I saw the torsion boxes, I was sold. Talk about some beef, these things won't rust thru for another 40 years, I was going to build my own. Why should I? The time I spend on them is not worth it. The price is that good...if you want to save money, I suggest you save it elsewhere.

The '67 grilles are awsome, the tailgates are awesome, the firewalls are awesome.

Wait till you see the new headlites he is getting ready to offer, really nice system. Jon said the name, but I forget already(CRAFT)

Rant off:lol:

I've talked with him on the phone...seems like a real good guy to deal with, that's where I'll get my patch panels when the time is right.
Did you pick anything up for the Jimmy? How far of a drive is it for you?

1 hour ride up the Jersey turnpike. I will be buying rad. support and torsion boxes. He had the pc. that goes behind the rockers, didn't know it was available. Would have saved me a ton of fab. work!! Between the 'a' and 'b' post.

He invited me up to see his pick up truck project, it was just a look see at what he had. The wifey said don't take any money:lol:

My 'war' has bin going on for 35 years and she holds the high ground:lol:

Her answer to my spending is that I have to have a job, go figure

Hey Chevyman, I bet VT beats both of us on his build. Never met a man with more determination and drive...I'll spend all day trying to get my intake back on and he'll rebuild a motor in the same amount of time

Yeah sure, throw me in the ring too.

We'll see how thing's go.
If we wanna drive the old trucks to Mich. this summer I've got WAY lots to do.
Get this one, I'm considering doing a 6.2 diesel in this one now. :help:

Did get some body work done on the swb though.

jaros44sr 12-15-2007 01:05 PM

Re: PO has me PO'd

That's a nice idea with the diesel, you could make your own for .70 a gallon

I'm quite sure that Jojotonka, Davesamnesia and Jimkshortstep4x4 would be here. Sounds like a great time. My zip is 48867.

I guess I need to get my a$$ in gear on mine.

Re: PO has me PO'd

Had a little time to play with the Jimmy, got the dbl row PS pulley on, finally mounted the intake after 5 yrs. Fooling with dizzy, bought a used dual point, but it wouldn't drop in the last 1/2", after changing out the gear drive from my original one, it dropped down. I measured every thing several times and it checked out, so I don't know what was different, but it is in there now. Just have to get the rotor to line up with #1 and buy some points. Also the vacuum line is now hooked up to the brake booster

Next step is to fab. up a bracket for my fuel filter, since I layed down my alternator I have more room in that area

Had to take of my air cleaner to get a pic., to much bling for my flash, bounced all over

Looking good J, getting close to firing it up! Looks like you're on schedule for a road trip in the summer. ;)

I actually spent about 5 hours working on mine today, first time in a while, but I got most of the interior gutted.

I bet its killin' ya just sittin' there and so close to firing up, lol.... Come on just a little longer and you'll have it running. Lookin' good!

Re: PO has me PO'd

Any progress lately? I know it is a busy time of year and all. I am almost ready to pull the tub off of mine, but I can't seam to get the ignition tumbler out...maybe dynamite.

Anyways, I hope you and your family, as well as all the board members have a great and safe holiday season!

jaros44sr 12-26-2007 05:17 AM

Re: PO has me PO'd

Kinda busy with the Holidays, tomorrow it should settle down! Trees dun, trains are up, lights are on, house is decorated, and turkey is in the oven with the stuffing, my work is over!! Now it's time to go to church and enjoy the family, made it thru another Holiday, with $25.00 in my pocket...

I didn't know the ign. switch had to come out to remove the tub:lol:

Some progress, I'll try to post up pics. tomorrow. Merry Christmas to you and yours, hope you get toys for the truck. Jim

jaros44sr 12-29-2007 11:38 AM

Re: PO has me PO'd

My son came home for the Holidays, helped me get back into welding, he likes it, I don't. Plus he's a better welder than me. So we finally got the rocker in place, and did a couple patch panels that needed to be finished up. The rocker is ground down and ruffed in with filler. Once I get my compressor running again I can use the diegrinder to get into the forward edge of the rocker

Some updates on the engine, kids got me some Flowmaster super 44's, so I can continue on the exhaust. Mounted the fuel filter, used the coil mount since it was the same diameter. Now just have to bend up the last pc. to the carb. Also did some buffing on the V/C's, another boring job, but how can you have alum. without being shiny...

Here's some pics

Did you install the door to line up the rocker or did you already have a measurement?

Thanks Guys
Yeah the rocker and door were fitted together

Big step is an understatement, huge is more like it. I've been moving that door around for six months, finally within the last week or so had it where I wanted it. Feels like the weight of the world is lifted, wasn't sure if I could pull it off with you guys watching:lol: I was convinced it wasn't a problem with the door, but more something I did. So I just kept tweaking and tweaking, bamm one day it fell into place.

That's why I went on to the motor, got real fustrating. It had to be dun anyway, but it gave me a break

Got one more hole to finish up, saw Rokcrln use those funny looking clamps, always wanted to try them.

Thank You, it's been a love hate relationship, but seeing the end in site is rather rewarding. I just hope some of the youngings learned a thing or two, alot of valueable information available from a lot of talented people on this site. In reading different threads I have gained insight

There are many, many beautiful trucks on this forum. I like to just sit back and view

Good to see the progress!

What is the access door in the passenger floor board for?

Big J 12-30-2007 05:28 AM

Re: PO has me PO'd

I think he is gonna put a nitros bottle in the rocker box, lol.....

Thats just part of the floor support thats gotta be welded back in place.

jaros44sr 12-30-2007 06:30 AM

Re: PO has me PO'd

Rockcrln told me about this stuff called body wax, I want to put it inside all enclosed cavities, rocker boxes, 'A' post, and body mount. Not sure of the cowl vent area, but I have seen guys have problems in that area. I would like to make a tube in that area to drain it away from the rear of my front fenders

BTW YJ, that was a great greeting card

Not big into Nitros, but a beer or two might hide there:lol:

Re: PO has me PO'd

Not much happened over the Holidays on the truck, but things have calmed down, so I ordered some parts from Jeg's and now have to wait...

Did some painting on the door frame so I can rehang the door, and dum-dumed all the seams. Up on the cowl had some original sealer and after removal it had rust underneath, so I'm glad I took the time..

PO used a can opener for the antenna wire access....

Heres some pics...

I've got mine down to the frame and managed to make a giant mess in the shop, so I've got to get the tub cut up and the top as well. Need anything before it goes to the scrap man?

Giant Messes are a good thing, means progress! No mess, shop pretty, no work getting dun...LOL

Yes, as a matter of fact I do. I need to mount my truck bulkhead to my bedsides. Could you cut the 'b' posts off at the bedfloor, don't know if a sawsall will work with a 7 or 8" blade. I'll pay you for your trouble and parts

I can do this, do you need the whole post from the floor to the top of the bedside? I think those are ok on mine, but I'll check.
