Wish I could help out as well. You might have to take a number. First after Ronnies will be my neighbor Sdailey cab. Ronnie is trying to hook me up with another build. We'll see if it pans out. It's not his but he referred someone to the board that has already seen my truck on the web.

nice work too!!!

Your welcome and thanks. I just went and tried to test fit one wheel well and all the bolts fell in except one. It looks like they line up good on the cross braces.

i thought you didn't have to use metal prep on galvanized if you use epoxy?

Alan, once again - you’ve shown us your excellent work in great detail. Thanks for the information, as eventually many of us will have to go down this road (or pay massive amounts of cash to have it done) and this grade (class A) of input is invaluable.

Hey Allan, have you ever thought of opening up your own shop? Or renting a stall at where you work now? It seems to me that people are restoring there cars & trucks rather than buying new ones. If I promoted more, I know I can make more money. It's just word of mouth right now. I'm winding thing down, and want to retire. I only want to work on my stuff.

I've heard it both ways. It's some cheap insurance.

It has been a dream for me do have my own shop. I'm afraid I don't know enough yet. Maybe it's just a fear. I'm working own my clientel now. I'm treating 198plus the way I would want to be treated, fair. But, I am making it a requirement for the customer to spend at least one day with me blocking and sanding so they understand it sucks and takes a lot of time. That is why they are paying some one else to do it.

Allan I think you know plenty. Look at all the Bozo's out there that own shops or are working at shops, and they call them self Professionals. Some people don't know what good looks like. Your work looks better that good. It LOOKS GREAT. :metal:
I'm sure everybody else will agree with me. If that's not a confidence builder I don't know what is. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Just a quick update. I started blocking and want to show a comparision. I blocked the upper side area and want to show the difference. Here is the RT bedside. You can see all of the defects. So far they are blocking out.

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00625.jpg

Here is the LT side. There is difference. I spent the same amount of time blocking. You can see the block I'm using laying on top. Back to work.

Alright Alan.........I have decided on color.

I'll get this color code tomorrow.

I'm going to use same scheme as 67 Chevelle......Rally wheels and red walls ;)

Allan what grit sand paper are you using to block? The block of wood looks like a good idea, but doesn't it get heavy?

It looks like Nassau Blue. I had a 66 Vette that was that color. Looks awesome when painted right. You must use a clear coat.

Thanks Dennis, there are a lot of BoZo's rebuilding cars. I just don't have the capital to get it going. I also don't want to borrow any if it was possible in todays economy.

Trying to keep the dream alive. Had another person call today. He has a 72 Suburban that needs redone. I don't have the room right now. It would be nice to have 2 projects (paying) going at the same time. So when one is hung up for something I could move to the other.

Is that your final answer? Also don't forget to tell me mouldings or no mouldings.

Using 180 for now. Then reprime and block with wet 400. That's the minimum I do. What your steps? The block is not that heavy, it's my exercise program.

I'm at a stand still right now. Ronnie called me while I was blocking and mentioned he might not want side mouldings. I'll still have to block everything except around the moulding holes.

I hear ya. Is it possible to work from your garage like me? That cuts way down on expenses. As far as equipment, I had a shop before, and have been collecting tools for a long time. So that wasn't a problem for me. Your doing real good the way your doing it right now. Like you said get a couple going at the same time. That's why I don't have much time to do my own. :waah:

Instead of a how to video, I could do a how to hour 1-2 times a week via webcam with a membership if I knew how to set it up. It would be cheaper than any school and you could ask questions and sit back and drink you beverage of choice. $30/month with a video of the session for sell to members for about $10 just throwing out some ideas.
