Nice one Sig! Original, or restored? Can't quite tell from the pic, does it have the same back of cab trim and paint separation like the blue/white truck in post 12 & 13 of this thread?

It is original, it has not been restored. It has had some paint work in the past, but not much. It does not have the back of cab however I do own a set hanging in my garage just waiting to be put on something. At the time I took this picture it was still owned by the couple that bought it new in 61. It has since sold once and I can buy it for $5,500. It still has the original bed wood and everything. It is a custom cab with the deluxe steering wheel and chrome knobs.... I can't remember if it had the deluxe cloth seat for sure.

1961's are my favorite year. I had one when I lived in Florida for 12 years. Mine was all updated mechanically. Great truck. If that one was closer to NC I would give it a look for sure.

I think I like some of the factory original trucks better than a lot of the modified trucks. I never get tired of looking at the true survivors.

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?

oem4me, your trucks (and vette) are such an envious collection. I would dare to say that you more than likely have the most original trucks. haha. Man, I could just sit and stare at them all day. I am a HUGE fan of original because to me, it is the closest we can get to time travel and I just love seeing things how they were since I never got to experience that time. Even though mine is Frankensteined together, I am trying really hard to get it to looking original. Until then, it still feels great to drive and for a while, it's like the modern day disappears while behind the wheel.

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you how much I love to look at the pics of your trucks not only for their perfection, but also for inspiration for my truck. :flag:

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?

Thanks Jim for sparking interest in my 63 C20.
I parked it on the lawn this week and all of a sudden it lands here in the right hands of survivor lovers. Its a bare bones model: 230 c.i., 3 on tree with no accessories. Dealer emblem from Iberia, MO. (the I fell off) I bought it ten years ago from a Jefferson City, MO collector who bought it from the original owner. Obvious Sunday truck and always out of the weather.

Flaws:
dent in rear drivers quarter panel behind wheel. paint not affected.
front drivers 1/4 panel popped loose at door.
six inch tear in bench seat
wood bed was sanded, walnut stained and poly'd by me. never removed.
fingers crossed I still have oil air cleaner.
rubber around drivers door is brittle.
2 cracks in windshield filled with 'bubble' repair once upon a time
hubcaps chewed up around center ring and repainted white with red logo.

Bonuses:
31,950 miles
original "beige' paint
widow maker wheelset intact with hubcaps. mud tires rear. plain tread front.
6 ply goodyear tires on plain black steel rims with chrome lugs installed
original wood side rail panels in good condition
new gas tank
$1500 service this winter on fuel system and brakes.
Fitted cover
Big mechanics manual.

aftermarket accessories still in boxes:
seatbelts
rearview mirror
Door weatherstrips
original painted gas cap

I can take photos this weekend once it stops raining.
Priced at $12,375 based on NADA Classic Average Retail.
Open to offers.
Happy to answer questions.

Inspiration is a great thing. I get the same thing out of them that you get .. well, except I can hop in and go for a spin too, I guess.
Honestly, the envy thing is a little embarrassing for me. See, I just own them. I can't take any credit for what inspires. You get what I get, only you don't have to pay storage.

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?

This thread is just plain sad:lol:

To have a 50 year old truck that is all original and looks half as nice as the ones in this thread is just plain sad.;)

These trucks were meant to be used and abused - especially back in the sixties long before Gentleman farmers and Saturday night cowboys were popular. These trucks were meant to haul and tow and travel to work sites, not languish in a climate controlled showroom or barn. That would be like finding a sixties muscle car that was never raced or at least burned rubber down main street!:haha:

In southeast Texas, vehicles from the sixties rust in the garage!:waah:

But seriously theses are all incredible and your pampered trucks should be mega-appreciated.
:metal:

In an effort to stir a little attention back to stock or original trucks , I had this truck out for the local show last weekend and thought I would post some new pictures.

Are there any other new additions that can be posted ????

Hey 60-66, can you show some pics of the in bed spare carrier on your fleetside. I have a carrier, but would like to know about factory placement and what they used to hold the tire to the carrier. Any help is appreciated

If you look at the inner part of the bedside where it meets the floor the holes are drilled in the sheet metal lip that sits on top of the wood, you will notice they may not be drilled through the wood if it wasn't factory installed. That gets you started on mounting the carrier . Then its just a long carriage bolt that goes through the wheel with a nut on the end. I'm not positive yet what nut actually goes there or what it looks like. Here's the bolt 3898396 http://www.ebay.com/itm/121359433216...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT and they list the nut specifically for side mount.

Really a super truck, Jon. Hey, I can't recall if you've ever been asked if you had a favorite among your collection of remarkable low-mile trucks. Is there one that you consider your "prize" find? If so, which one and why?

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?

Thanks for the info. Looks like a 1/2" carriage bolt 8" long.....I will probably use the same style lock I used on my stepside spare fender mount.

Boy, that's a tough one. I guess when I find each one I feel that way. I like them all, that's why I rarely sell anything. Its the thrill of finding them and getting a chance to bring them back to life and enjoy them. I've owned the white 65 4x4 the longest, almost 23 years. My favorites are this Gold truck, the Red 66 GMC and my blue 60 short bed , the white 65 AND AND but not in any order. The red GMC I waited 4 years to get from the original owner. He listed it once on EBay while he was still alive but at that time he was at twice what the truck was worth. It was his baby and he was very proud of the truck. 4 years later he passed and his wife and son put it up for sale a little to cheap . It was exciting to drive out to Baxter Springs KS to pick it up and see where it was stored all its life. Sold new in Miami Oklahoma. Each one has a story .

Just when you thought the supply of unmolested trucks had dried up, TWO truly sweet, camper-shelled brothers show up on CL and ebay in the same week. Go figure the odds.
The slightly younger one is on the left in all pics.

Thanks for posting these time capsules oem! These trucks remind me of the way the majority of pickups looked like in the 60's and 70's. Both are excellent examples for this thread, both appear to be used for light recreational activities and show pride of ownership.

Heres another little gem I stumbled on last night. Looks like a 63 c20 and less than 4k to purchase. I can see very little changed. One owner since 63...Sea mist green, deluxe seat, arm rests, gauges, fender mounted spare, 292 w/4 speed.....

Ebay link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1963-Chevrol...-/151400510687

Id be all over this one if I didn't have two now as it is. What a steal
