Thanks fellas! I'd say it's turning out decently. If I were doing a full-on restore, it would be much better quality, but this will work for now :chevy:

Today's lesson, boys and girls, is to ALWAYS check and double check your mix ratios and air pressure settings BEFORE you start painting.

I wet sanded the bedsides, which had a few small issues, but were deemed worthy of color, so I mixed up my HRF and got to it. Problem is, I was just spraying base/clear, so I had the wrong mix ratios in my head. Twice as much hardener and reducer as necessary yields a runny, dripping, sagging mess. Low air pressure results in a spatter-paint effect. Both of which are not conducive to good-looking paint on your truck...

Now I know why my clear came out so crappily, too. Seems I have a bad habit of resting my pinky on the air pressure fine adjustment knob. At least with double the hardener, the paint will be dry sooner, and I can fix it sooner :)

Yeah, it laid out nicely for the most part, just got a little sputtered at the rear of the driver's side and a few sags/runs. All sanded down and re-sprayed now; looks MUCH better :D

Are you using a clear coat or just the color? If you are using a clear is it flat too or satin?

Single stage urethane, with the flattening agent already mixed in. Just activate and shoot. It will be staying 'satin' :)

Fronts are 235/70-15 on a 6.5" wheel. I have a set of 7" that I will switch them out for due to clearance issues with the lower control arm...

Tore into the front half of the truck today to prepare for primer/paint by removing everything I don't want blue. Found a few more 'surprises' in the way of some rust that was bondo-ed over and the core support being mis-aligned and missing lots of fasteners. Fixed those things up as well as gutted the doors and gave them a good coat of rust inhibitor inside. The hood fits much better now that the doghouse is square... Sanded all of the metal down and got her masked-up. Primer is laid- needs to be wet sanded then ready for some more blue :D

It's easy, you just have to stop doing everything except eating, sleeping, and showering- and you can delay those a bit if necessary

In the last 2 weeks you have re built a truck. All I have done is change some diapers, nap when the weather turns gloomy and watch my Lakers get destroyed....lol

This thread makes me feel incompetent and lazy:D:metal:

Thanks! Finally got back to work this evening...

Wet sanded, scuffed, and cleaned up in preparation for some color on the rest of the truck. Was fun stretching across that looooong hood. Also caught a little suicide dive bomber in the fender. Truck actually looks kinda good with glossy, wet paint...
