right on...im running 22x12s too and a moser rear but a 4" backspace for sure let me know what you come up with...and ill be leaving the panhard alone too, I will probabably never ride high enough for it to be an issue worse case a torch and and hammer will thin it out just enough to clear if that close or just move the trailing arms in 1/2 turn on the ends....sounds like fitment problem not an issue..thanks for your help love your truck and we are the only ones with Schotts on here I think. :) lots of coin but worth they are like jewlery.

schott will make it happen, they are building mine. Brake caliper clearance was a concern because im using 14" sl6r and 13" sl4r wilwoods, they will pull the specs from whatever calipers/brakes your using and machine the wheel to work with your brake set up, they are all about perfection with there wheels. they are worth all the $ spent. Alot of people dont use them because they are very expensive but once you see them in person they are like a piece of jewlery. im in the wheel/tire field and they have the BEST polish ive ever seen i mean come on the polish it front to back...not many do that. plus the cover lock is awesome.

Totally agree......most people at 5 feet can't see the "hairline" of the coverloc...I agonized over wheels....next week when it rolls out I will give my opinion if I made right choice!!....lol......jim

Ok got most of side line projects out of way....my latest in pics...friend sold me 2 napa boxes ....converted this one into my new welding rig....50' of 8/3 cord to supply cabinet....a 25' 110 volt cord off of that for grinders..etc...flip lid made great backer for cord and place to hang grind stones.etc...Still have all drawers functioning ..still rolls easily .....OK Mike I owe you one for the idea..gotta come clean.....Working back on truck this week.....jim

Looks Amazing! Congrats and I'm sure you're excited...remember when I got my 70 back as a roller.....and it wasn't nearly as nice as this...I was stoked! :)

Especially love the shot straight on!

jtp67-72 05-23-2012 10:34 PM

Re: 68 aka "Chained in Porterbuilt Prison"

and that rotisserie front piece is holding front up 3/4 "....I knew it would lay but nothing like dumping it the 1st time......20/12's rear..20/8.5 front....315-35-20 and 255-40-20 (I think that's right on front!)...there's over 4" more clearance from back of rear tire to frame bolt heads....could have wedged a 15" rear I think but I like the 12's....5" backspace .....6" lip on rear........jim

Dude, that truck is insane. This is one top notch build.I know your pain about trying to shoe horn a 4l80e with a dropmember, without cutting the floor to bad.I working on that rite now,so I will stay tuned to your progress.Great job.

this is what I had to do temporarily to sit cab down tonight..engine and trans are at my max at 5.2* down...I already don't like that much drop....will look into it more wkend.....more worried now about that big azz u-joint behind tailshaft!!!...real easy to clearance bellhousing area and high hump still covering opening....but rear may be a little harder.......Love that crossmember shot.....jim

Very nice progress. What's the deal on the transmission interference? I thought the 4l80 would fit with a high hump? Did you drop your cab? Maybe I missed it in one of your posts?

Well Jim, as posted on 67cheby build a few days ago, I finally got the chance to go over all your build today. Everything that all the guys have said about your build is echoed by me. Just a great build. I did a 67 for a friend a few yrs ago (before I knew about this site). It sure would have been a lot of help to me to have had help from this site (lot of great people and great builds). I will continue to watch and enjoy your build and learn more and more each day....Jim :metal::metal:

More pics of clearancing high hump late tonight..........jim
