wish I could claim I was the one who took those shots, but I wasn't. I found them online. I do know whare there are alot of cars and trucks that just got parked and left for decades like those trucks. I'll have to see if I can get some good pics of them come spring.

In 87 I bought a 62 Studebaker Champ.

http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...s/P1010020.jpg

I got hit in the rear quarter (she didn't see me...) and hit a parked 76 Toyota Corolla wagon. Pushed it 8 inches to the curb and 4 inches up. Both drivers side tires quickly had severe negative camber and the drivers door couldn't open. My fender was pushed back and I had a little trouble opening the passenger door. Had it painted Corvette yellow so I could be seen.

One day I'll scan them...

Does anybody know of anywhere I can get a pic that isn't copyrighted so I can blow it up and have it printed? I want a couple pics to hang on the wall in the shop. I'm really liking the original factory ads or dealership ads of the 69/70 c10s. I tried having a couple pics from this thread that I liked printed, but they wouldn't do it cuz the pics are copyrighted. Didn't even think about that...

Thanks,
Ryan

Typing in "Old Car Ads" in google gives you a multitude of sites displaying old advertising pics all of which are copyrighted, Flickr too is full of all sorts of vintage advertising, but none of this stuff is being displayed by the original owners yet it is all in the public domain and nobody is in trouble for it.
If sites like this one http://www.adclassix.com/a3/67chevro...ckuptruck.html can sell them, then why can't you as an individual have one blown up for your own private use....I don't understand it.
If those new bills go through then it's all over anyway.

Re: Vintage picture thread

Or is it possible to find the magazines or books that these ads came in and get them blown up to a small poster? What books or magazines would even have those ads? I'm really looking for original ads that have the 69/70 c10's in them... Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks,
Ryan

I checked Car and Driver May 1969 and they have no truck ads. Maybe Popular Mechanics?

I like the rust. Here's a couple more. That's me in the "square body". The Lone Star on the dash had nothing to do with it.

Geronimo's Cadillac resides somewhere in or around Terlingua, Texas.

Ok these are like pics of crappy old pics cause I dont have a scanner, but still cool. Most of these are from before I was around, but I remember the trucks. My dads is the blue 1/2 ton 76 and grandpas is the white 3/4 ton 74.

Mom and dad. He bought truck brand new in 76 when he was 19. Special ordered it exactly the way he wanted it. Traded in his Scout on it.

I remember when my Grandpa sold his to junk yard in early 90s.

Sister and I Guessing 90 or so. He traded the 76 on the gray 88 Jimmy in the last picture. Remember how it was terribly rusty when he traded it in. Lots of memories from the Jimmy, kept it up until 08 or so and it was same boat. Really rusty, but some kid bought it to restore.

Mt St Helens. Helicopter landed, someone walked out, checked the truck, got back in the chopper.

Look back on page two, it tells the story of the truck at Mount Saint Helens with the helicopter tracks to the right to check it out after the eruption.

Starting from elementary school in the mid 70's up through high school I would take all of the features of the cool cars I liked and pull them out and tack them on one wall of my bedroom. I had the whole wall covered! THis was one of them! I moved out after going to community college and iving at home for two years fter high school and my mom took them all down, and probably trashed them. I never saw them again. I wish I had taken them down myself and hung on to those...

THats a pretty nice power brake air cleaner set up on there. It looks like it cleas the master cylinder OK in the set up

IMO,it would have looked cooler with hole cut right over the top of the carb and an aftermarket chrome scoop on the 1 bbl.

Cool "truck" though. I would rool in it, and let Zoe ride in the back!

Yes it is, but it was also Navy base back in the day. I was looking at some old photos on another site and came across these.
