More engine stuff. I found a couple of really nice vacuum balls at the local yard. The blazer sat without a hood for some time, so the original was pretty sun baked.

I knew when I typed it, that there MUST be someone out there with my dry, twisted, sense of humor, that would appreciate it!
Here are some more misc. pieces that needed some black paint. |

Tri-plus inner fenders are excellent pieces. I didn't so much as die grind a single hole. For $100 apiece, I don't think I could bring myself to patch an original ever again!

Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer
Could you tell us the process you used and type of paint, additives etc you used on the door panels? Also, how do you protect the paint when you re-install the vent windows in the doors?
|
Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer
Love that color!
|
Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer
Thanks for the compliments guys!
On the door panels, I just scrubbed them with soap and water, then cleaned them with wax and grease remover. I then just sprayed them with SEM Super White. I didn't use any clear or anything on top. I have used SEM for many years, and it has always wore quite well. As far as installing the vent windows...I just try to be careful. Believe it or not, when installing doors, fenders, etc., I always install that stuff by myself, and I never even tape any edges. I've always pre-fit my parts in the bare metal stage. By the time the parts have been painted, they've been on and off several times, so I pretty much know what to expect, and how to go about it, so installation really isn't a big deal. When installing parts, it's a good idea to mask off any painted areas from potential damage. Not that I never mess anything up, but as they say..."It's not how good you are, it's how well you can hide your mistakes" LOL!! |
