Re: Cecil the 1953 5 window / S-10 / 5.7 TPI
Any close up's of how the hitch is mounted, is it an s10 hitch or fabbed up

sort of makes sense but haven't got this far yet and didn't know if I would have to start from scratch and my truck didn't have a hitch so I don't have anything to go by, but knowing it's possible makes me feel better about it

SKYMANGS:Started my day today by installing Cecil's newly arrived injectors. Only to find out that they leak like something fierce from the bottom. Needless to say I will be returning them. Heading to Bonner Springs in the AM to get the old injectors sonic cleaned and flow tested... starting to get a little old now.
UPDATE: Talked to Chris this morning the company that sold the Injectors to him called him this morning and told him that the injectors need to be seated on the rail in order to not leak. He is going to try this and hopefully this eliminates the leaking fuel, and the sluggish engine at mid range. |

Re: Cecil the 1953 5 window / S-10 / 5.7 TPI
Building a yellow LCF are we?
Rob |
Re: Cecil the 1953 5 window / S-10 / 5.7 TPI
Yup. The yellow one is my in progress Tow Pig... it's a 56 GMC 350 body on an 83 1 ton dually chassis. Should be ready in 2-3 weeks to start driving daily. This one is my version of a "junkyard" build. Budget for drivable is $500. Up till last week I was up $7. :metal:
In Cecil news, the injector cleaning did the trick. Runs like a champ now! Shawn should be posting a run video shortly. |
Re: Cecil the 1953 5 window / S-10 / 5.7 TPI
Here is the video! Now he runs as good as he looks!

Re: Cecil the 1953 5 window / S-10 / 5.7 TPI
Great build. Amazing job on all the little touches!!
What brand of insulation was used on the floor? Thanks |
Re: Cecil the 1953 5 window / S-10 / 5.7 TPI
That was "peel and seal". Same composition as the expensive stuff, but cost about $40 to do the whole floor and firewall.

Now if we can just get the Motor to run correct, sent the ECM back to Larry's Electric to see if it is bad, will hopefully hear something this week. |
Re: Cecil the 1953 5 window / S-10 / 5.7 TPI
Uncle Jimi; Yup, thats the stuff. Been very pleased with it.
Update on Cecil. I spent all day on the phone with Larry's Electric yesterday, diagnosing Cecil's run issue. (Runs great for about 40 seconds, then dies). It has continuous spark, fuel, and air, good fuel pressure, no codes, all injectors have been sonic cleaned and flow tested, IAC is opening and closing properly, all injectors are pulsing correctly. In other words, it should run great. By the end of the day they decided it must be a programming or ECM problem. Sent it off to them this morning. Hopefully they figure out what's going on and get it back in a timely manner. In the mean time I'll be doing a few more little things to Cecil (since I've got the time). |

Chris it has to be the ECM and hopefully Larry's will get the replacement sent out soon.
On a side note if anyone from Oklahoma is following this thread please keep an eye out for my car hauler, some JackHole decided to steal it from driveway in broad daylight Tuesday. Its a 20ft tandem, heavy duty axles and heavy duty big ball hitch! |
Re: Cecil the 1953 5 window / S-10 / 5.7 TPI
That sux.
I hate thieves. Hopefully they'll screw up & the cops will catch them. R46 |
Re: Cecil the 1953 5 window / S-10 / 5.7 TPI
Well crap...hate that happened. Had my first new car we owned...86 Buick Grand National...stolen. Real downer. Hope they are caught.

Re: Cecil the 1953 5 window / S-10 / 5.7 TPI
WTF is the world coming to?
|
Re: Cecil the 1953 5 window / S-10 / 5.7 TPI
It's (unfortunate) not what is coming to as it's already here. We need to go a bit backwards & take care of business as we use to.
It is SAD that you can't even leave your own property on your own property ... without some ****bag stealing it. Some countries cut the hand off of thieves so everyone knows who the thief is ... Again - that sux & hopefully it'll turn up. R46 |
Re: Cecil the 1953 5 window / S-10 / 5.7 TPI
754, I'm with the rest of the group, sorry it was stolen, hope it get's returned...Jim

Re: Cecil the 1953 5 window / S-10 / 5.7 TPI
Can I ask about the steering column, do you recall the length or model no.? Looks like a perfect fit.
By the way, killer build thread! Just wish didn't have to read about your stolen trailer thread to come across it. |
Re: Cecil the 1953 5 window / S-10 / 5.7 TPI
Not trying to pour salt in your stolen trailer wound... however.... on the bright side.... (if there was one to getting your trailer stolen???)
Cecil now becomes a driver... Not a trailer Queen?!?!!? |

Re: Cecil the 1953 5 window / S-10 / 5.7 TPI
Steering column is a 32" column from Gearhead enterprises. It is a pretty good fit.
