Looks great Kees, I was also wondering what the purpose was of those "pockets" at the rear cab corners.

I took all the parts off of the frame again, cleaned it a bit so it's ready for paint.

I also took the halfshafts off of the IRS, I need longer wheel studs in it, mount new brake discs etc.
I need a press to get the flange off, I'll try that Saturday...

The Brittish know how to put an axle together... it won't fall apart, everthing was so tightened, the waterdrops stood on my back :rolleyes:

Jag IRS has American Dana 44 center section. I like how they did that.

Gary, Jag used two different types of centers, Dana and Salisbury, they look alike but are just a tad different. Don't know which I got just yet.

I put some primer on the rear frame and the parts of the IRS today.

I think it needs another coat and then the black can go up.
This week is the final mounting of the IRS (I hope :lol:)
Then on to the front, and finish that part.

Still got a lot to do ;)

I did not know they used Salisbury, the cover sure looks like a Dana 44. Have fun painting!

man, I don't know if it would want those propane tanks sitting there exposed if you get hit from the side. I would try to place in them inside the frame rail.

ChuckDriver, IRS is just going to be painted. Nothing fancy, it's going to be a daily driver you know ;)

Spblack, inside the framerails doesn't fit.
I drove for years this way with a Chevy Van, never had any issues with it, just hoping the "other people" would look out some...

I took the IRS apart to get a good look at it (had not done that yet...)
There was only one broken bolt, a bad one!
The lower control arm are hold by a "bridge" that is bolted to the diff with only two bolts each side.
Left side was loose, and at the right side was one broken, not really a good thing ;)
It sure is a good thing I clean things up before I mount it on the truck :metal:
What good about it is that the diff itself and the power lock is really clean :lol:

Rear frame is painted, two coats primer and two coats black.
Thats ready to take the IRS :metal:

But paint has to dry...so on with drilling out broken bolts of that same IRS.
Bolt is out, but I have to make new thread.
It was 7/16 and it will be M12 metric, because I have enough of that ;)
I made a bolt just like the original on the lathe, except it's an M12.
No pics yet, sorry.

I also did consult NoClassic, because he also has Jag IFS, and is "two" steps ahead of me...I belief he's in driving state :lol:
I asked him about the shockmount measurement, and what I came up with is almost the same as what NoClassic has. So took the Grinder and made some mounts:

Great to see a family involved in a build ;)

Yesterday I talked about a broken bolt in the carrier, this is my solution to get it repaired. I drilled the broken bolt out, made new thread just milimeter thicker, from 7/16" (11 mm) to M12 metric

The bracket is hold by the two (!!) bolts, that at his turn holds the lower control arm. The bolt on the right I've made, the bolt on the left is from Jag.

Here you can clearly see the difference in size:

While I was at it, I could, at the same time, move the diff permanently to his new home, so I did:

Welded the shockmounts on the subframe:

Calipers next, then the half shafts and shocks...almost ready!!

Back to the front, I have a broken bolt on the lower control arm, I drilled it out.

Here you see the broken bolt, it's a 3/8" unf, 5 grade. Difficult to come by overhere. Searched on the net what I could use to have the same strenght, looks like your grade 5 is the same as our 8.8 bolts...
That makes it a lot easier to repair the bolt holes.
I think I drill them all to metric M10, also is mounting the springpan a lot easier to do ;)
Then I can use 4 threaded bars to get the spring at his place, instead of one thread through the middle...
We'll see...

It's interesting that a British car has so many non-metric bolts.
