Morning Bill,

It’s the first time in 30+ years I have started shooting again. It’s been a long time.

I will only kill the enemy.

Foxes etc still welcome.

Rats are destructive.

HOLD MY BEER........!!!

WATCH THIS....!!!

Steven my current 20 week lodger (welding contractor) and I grabbed a few beers, a target and some pellets this week.

Shooting at 25 meters from just inside the house.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psvo0yieoj.jpg

Nothing special, and my excuse is not shooting for over 30 years.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psnrvgyov3.jpg

The next evening I grabbed some more pellets and had three short sessions.

So much more practice needed.

But it is fun for sure.

Quick feedback from my friend Hazel whom I had made the wall hanging for.

The rusting process on the background is now going well, spreading evenly.

She is happy and sent the pic.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psmx4frjwh.jpg

Thursday evening I went over to visit a lady who has a cat and a dog......

Perfect for me yes.

Her surprise was great when her cat made himself at home in my arms, seems he is not really bothered with visitors.

Earlier on I had to select a pocket knife as I was taking along some dried and smoked Russian game sausage and while deciding which one of about three to take, I realised there were a lot more knives than one person really needed.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pshphu3on9.jpg

In the end the Case won out.

Meet “Wyzz” her dog and companion.

He seemed to like me too, after giving me the once over.........

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psrqxoz3s2.jpg

He settled down draping himself over me.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psfhqvduqz.jpg

Not sure if the smoked sausage had anything to do with the friendship.

Indeed Bill.

I feel Truck time coming on soon.

One of my best weekends in months.

Friday I saw a GP for an ongoing back issue that has been getting worse.

He will be refering me for a spinal MRI.

Saturday I did all my yard and housework as I have been a bit distracted recently.

In the afternoon I took the bike out and rode over to Craig’s place to go ride with him and his wife.
Lorraine is a new rider with under 300km on her tacho so far.

Her Honda Grom looks toy like next to the GS.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pshjfgkkyy.jpg

Craig’s 250 commuter so that he can guide her at a sensible pace.

Like me, he has ridden bikes since about age 10. (I started at 13 and never stopped)

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pslpfc5hcw.jpg

I brought up the rear most of the day.

Lorraine is a very confident rider as she has driven all her life, and understands road craft intuitively

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pswcekwvda.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psfkdalcq2.jpg

After coffee and cake we split and I headed home via Maidstone and Woodsie place.

At the end of the day I did 185 miles for the day.

Woodsie noticed that my rear drive was weeping oil, so a rebuild is on the cards.

Sunday Bootfair scores included this sign used on out of service trains and some old piece of equipment, still to be investigated.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psi1bz2geg.jpg

Some collectors coins and a mini tankard.

Tankard May be headed to Winfield, Kansas.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps0q7qxhvn.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps5b7vz8yi.jpg

Had a lady friend over for a BBQ yesterday, minus her dog, Wyzz as my cats would not be impressed.

Took her for a walk up to the farm to show off.......

Saw this Poppy........

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psvjj3kgxy.jpg

In other news, mate Martin has started back on his truck.

Progress from this pic I took last weekend now includes loadbed and fenders fitted back.

Certainly been challenged. M
And I am feeling more ready to accept now.

Regarding the ladies... you got that tight.

Did a quick 15 shots in sets of 5 last night.

Using a single point rest and my shoulder there is clearly a lot of movement still.

I will be using a more solid rest next.

But prefer the idea of pulling the weapon up and just st shooting as pigeons and rats don't wait for you to get comfortable.

After runnong down to Faversham to collect a new 200 Amp Mig welder I bought yesterday........ more to report later. I popped in to see my buddy Wyzz and his mistress. Got fed too.... Bargain.

Funny creature, he likes to sit upright like this.

More interesting, "garage stuff" to report later.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

I guess it had to happen some time.......

We all respond differently to life’s challenges.

Thank you all fo the support and patience while I dragged my butt on the Chevy truck resto by doing all sorts of other stuff and observing life around me.

Many of you have been willing me on to get back to the truck, but it has its own schedule.

So here is a clue.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psvh3ne3am.png

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps7tygzx7m.png

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps9tctxikb.png

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps6hizxqpk.png

Can you guess what it is yet??

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psllqwimdi.jpg

Yup.......

Time to start back on the truck.

Bodywork and welding.

Lots of welding.

Bought the welder direct from Rally Design and collected it from mate Neil in Faversham last night.

Thanks mate.

Looking forward to getting the wire and dialling it in, then starting the cut, weld, grind boogie.

Unpacked it in the lounge earlier, remember who pays the mortgage..... it’s a lovely machine.

Can do both MiG and arc or stick welding..

While I was with Neil and looking at his car http://www.rodsnsods.co.uk/forum/garage/bit-bit-503826
He asked if I was interested in buying a Snap On toolbox.

Considering my tools have lived here the last two years........

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psuizgs36r.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pslb1cu8xi.jpg

The answer had to be yes please.

So tonight after work I took Prozac and headed down to Neil's place again, cash in hand,

After cleaning up the toolbox for me, we had to carry it between and over two Mercedes Benz’s

And into the back of this amazing little van.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pschg15iry.jpg

Back at home......

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pssxroqss6.jpg

Next up will be cleaning it up, cleaning the tools and packing the lot up.

And then.....

Truck time, inbetween living life as we know it.

In the mean time the six baby birds keep growing.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psstdlroqv.jpg

Thanks for checking in.

Very pleased with the toolbox Ray.

I will just move the gas from my existing welder.

Just bought some 0.8mm wire today as well. My friend Neil recommended it.

Unpacked and modified my new welder tonight.

Extendable cable.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psptxxyol9.jpg

Fitted a large heavy duty earth clamp too

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psmgfah3y4.jpg

Still need to get some pipe for the gas bottle and a fitting for the regulator. Just where the old fitting and pipe goes in.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Got home late from London as the new improved train schedules have added 30 minutes to my commute.

Service sucks big time.

But got the regulator sorted and some pipe for the gas.

Then decided to make a small skateboard based trolley and brace for the welder and gas bottle after fitting the roll of wire etc.

Some bits added together.

Skateboard £1.00 at Bootfair.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pspumqbpz6.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps0ohi3kkc.jpg

Welded the gas bottle brace up.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psxv9a3syy.jpg

Other side.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psxv9a3syy.jpg

Get the idea?

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps2tsts2ku.jpg

Assembled.

Functional.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps7ohcshdz.jpg

Parked away.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psjl6pxapl.jpg

Next up some welding and fine tuning it all.

Thanks for stopping by.

First thing most people do is weld up a cart for their new welder.

I designed and built this one for my MIG and plasma cutter.

Painted it Miller blue to match my Snap On Tool boxes

Forgot to post up in last nights post and got a double post instead.

Using 0.8mm wire and a reasonable feed allowed me to create a strong bond and penetration.

I wear gloves, long sleeves, boots and still smell burning hair when I weld. That is why I now wear a cap inside my helmet.

You South Africans must be really thick skinned. Very nice weld by the way.

Will you be making it to Arkansas this year on your Annual U.S.A. Tour?

Hi Vince.

Thanks for the reply.

I should wear more kit, but often cannot be bothered.

South Africans certainly are thick skinned.

Craig and I will be coming from St Louis, via New Orleans and then Illinois and Iowa and up to Kansas, and hopefully pop in at Clems in Fayetteville, if things go right, we want to pop in over at Ada to see Paul and Brandon too plus a few others....... maybe not enough time, but we will see what we can do.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Weekend is over.....

Been a great one.

Some useless info.

Message from Dennis to Craig and I on Friday

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psl6ptdu93.png

And Dave the farmer who came to set up my telescopic sight with a cat called Cat at work.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psk73fjuaa.jpg

Saturday morning I was up by 4am, thanks Insomnia.

Left home by 07.30 to go pick up friend Joy whose dog Wyzz was not impressed at being left behind.

Then over to Maidstone to pick up Kevin and then down to Wiltshire to pick up his converted camper van.

On the way there Kevin bought us a Buffet breakfast at Toby Carvery, thank you very much.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psocemyf6u.jpg

This Morgan Aero was in the car park too.

Not on my lottery list, but may make the owner happy.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pspw2sr3zr.jpg

Lowered, boosted power to around 190 bhp and a load of other camper conversions done....

This van put a massive smile on his face.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psl4uxtdn1.jpg

Once back home I dropped Joy off at her home as she had stuff to do and came home.

To get some garage time in.

All part of finding my MoJo again

Cleaned my new toolbox out, top to bottom, inside and outside.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psu8jtojpv.jpg

One half cleaned up one half not, want to guess which is which...??

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pslrdfuesx.jpg

Done.

Very pleased with the three hours of my life I will never get back.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psoowx0njk.jpg

Then made a fire and eventually Joy made it over, as she had a load of things to deal with at her home.

Security cat insisted on checking the alcohol quality.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pssz8vm1rm.jpg

I did a decent mix of stuff including cheese and tomato toasted breadlies and sweet onions in foil.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps4oad9hak.jpg

Braai was great, as was the company.

She left at 11.15 and I went to sleep at midnight. To be woken at 05.10 by the song of tuna.

With my MoJo headed back to where it belongs...

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psvhb6bf25.jpg

One of today’s jobs, in order to get ready to restart this build, was to clean up every spanner, socket and other tool that is relevant to the truck..

So I unpacked it all.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psm6gdpzt0.jpg

And started cleaning with petrol, a burst and a rag.

Scavenger alert

Have been looking for bits to make a welder and grinder trolley.

Today I had a meeting in Croydon about an hour from home.

As I drove into the hotel car park.....

HALLELUJAH....

SKIP !!!

Filled with old desks and other rubbish.

Did not even park the car.....

Reconfigured the rear, and Hey Presto.

We have some free steel.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pss06o5btu.jpg

Got home tonight and unpacked it.

Some nice bits of steel

Not ideal for what I have in mind for when I build the new welder stand, but hey, it’s free.

In other news...

Saw this this morning.

Someone knows the new fledglings are all out there.

Harley....... wish I could change what is natural for her.

Killer.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Woke early, fed cats who decided they were not interested in what I put out, tried to go back to bed, ended up stripping bed, doing laundry, new bedding, you know, the stuff a single guy gets to do.
Then off to Asda to buy some stuff, beers included.
Back home by 10am and mowed the lawn, did some other odd jobs.

Popped around to the neighbour two houses down who is prepping his foundation work for a new extension to his house.
I needed some hose clamps (Jubilee clips) as I had lost the bulk tray I bought before.... yup, typical.

Thankfully Stuart is a biker and mechanic as well.

Then down to the garage to go look for steel for my new build, stashed behind it....

Oooops....

Jungle to be cleared first.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psnwmmxrif.jpg

Hey Presto...!!!

No decent steel.

Back in the garage I looked at what I was soon to start addressing.

Speaker holes, cut in with an angry Badger by a Blind gorilla.

I had hoped to have some of Martin’s B pillar left to use as donor but it seems to not be the case.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps54dclah6.jpg

Once done I dismantled the desk frame.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psteyiztbj.jpg

Cut n ground down some parts of it.

New Safety shoes in use too.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psiztsxvjn.jpg

With the welder power lead, gas and power switches all being biased to one side, I decided to offset the gas bottle stand as well.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psxvznl3dk.jpg

Harley as always.....

Security and QC.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pszr3uuq4b.jpg

Strange cat, fearless in the garage.

Trolley chassis completed, needs castors, and a top shelf to be created for welders and extras to lay on.

Will also add a bank of extension plugs for the grinders to run off.

Happy so far.
