Re: Project Vitamin C-10
How exactly does that help? Never mind I don't want to know.
It doe'snt really have a pee trap. A Pee trap stops the fumes from coming up and into the living space. You know methane is explosive right.:lol: I'm sure it's all to code.:lol: Bubba missed that the outlets aren't GFI protected. Looks like Alan is in high speed. Truck is almost ready. Can't believe you haven't started it yet. |
Re: Project Vitamin C-10
That strainer will stop the $hit from clogging up the pipe that I didn't put a trap in. I'm going to fix that, but no time right now. The outlets are GFI protected. You only need one in the circuit. SEE, now stop picking on me.

Re: Project Vitamin C-10
:lol: Ok so you made it look like its GFI protected. I guess the big black cap will keep you from blowing yourself up. Where does all that $hit drain to?:lol: Oh ya thats right you hooked it up to the sewer.

Re: Project Vitamin C-10
Of course you do know Alan you have to do a project pay off video so you need to yell across the fence to Shannon and tell him to bring a video camera cause we want action shots. I know that you put a lot of work into your truck and that paint is gorgeous but you are going to have to grit your teeth and put a little burnt rubber in the fender wells.

Definately practice before painting. I tell people to go to a local body shop and get their left over paint and maybe some parts that came off a wrecked car and shoot those. Our shop recyles old paint. You may have to get some reducer and hardener. It's worth a shot. Always spray your edges first no matter which coat you are on. That's on e of my major problems. I'm getting better at getting them. If you spray mettalics always spray the panel in the orientation it will be on the truck. What I mean is don't spray a fender laying down on the table. Sorry, I didn't answer your question directly. I just stated what I have done over the years. There are so many choices out there. What might work good for me might not be he best for the next guy. I'm cracking up right now. :haha::haha::haha::haha:
Fuel line look good. |
Re: Project Vitamin C-10
Tanks for the paint gun advice Alan. I guess I will start with a cheap gun to get the etching and high build primers on then buy a couple better guns for the paint and clear.
As far as Shannon yelling at the traffic in the hood don’t worry about it us old Marines get kinda cantankerous but we mean well as long as you’re not to close when the veins are standing out in our necks you’re fine. Oh if you are call a maggot you might want to run.:haha::haha: |
Re: Project Vitamin C-10
Man I can't wait to see this thing complete and driving... Looks killer even underneath it.

I got the fuel line all hooked up and ran. Still need to get the tank PC. I pulled the drive shaft out to check the length. It came out of my truck when it had a PG and now I have a T350. The yoke wouldn't go into the tranny. I always thought the PG and T350 spline counts are the same. I counted and they were. I believe the corrosion on the yoke is stopping it from going into the tail housing bushing. I cleaned on it some, but it was late to try to fit it again. Once I determine the length is good/bad I will have the drive shaft reworked with a new yoke and U joints. I took my girls up to Clayton, GA for fun weekend with me. We will be in the rivers all day tomorrow. They had a blast last year doing it. We are staying in a motel this time. Look at the friend we found in the pool. |

Re: Project Vitamin C-10
I don't know which option to go with. Because of limited knowledge of drive shafts. I need a new yoke for my T350. I've been looking for a used one just for mock up. I haven't done much looking, but so far nothing in the used department. I will check the local junk yard tomorrow. So far in my research I have found this new one. Here is the info on it. It's not the exact same size, but since I am getting a new shaft made it shouldn't matter. Maybe I should just contact the local drive line shop and see which route to go. Maybe I can provide a measurement and just have them make it.
This yoke accepts 1310 series u-joints, which have 1 1/16" outside diameter cups and measure 3 7/32" wide to the outside of the cups. The following transmissions have 27 spline output shafts: Powerglide Saginaw 3 Speed Saginaw 4 Speed Muncie 4 Speed Borg Warner T-4 GM Borg Warner T-5 GM T-350 GM TH-350 GM T-56 700R 700R4 4L60 4L60E 4LL0E 200 Metric Brinn Bert Falcon Yoke Features: Spline Length: 4 1/2" Total Length: 5 1/2" (measured from the center of the u-joint to the end of the yoke) Accepts: 1310 Series U-Joints 1 1/16" U-Joint Cup O.D. 3 7/32" U-Joint Width (measured outside-of-cup to outside-of-cup) External Clips |
Re: Project Vitamin C-10
I'm also deciding on which brake fluid I should go with. I really don't want to use DOT3. I heard DOT5 is silicone based. It has several improved properties over DOT3. One being it won't eat the paint. What are your thoughts?
|
Re: Project Vitamin C-10
I've done a few drive shafts. Have the drive line guy tell you where to measure from. He should have yokes to sell you too. It's easy. Not worth your time to find a used yoke. ;)

Re: Project Vitamin C-10
Alan I've got a drive shaft complete that came out of my truck with 350 trans, that should be the right length...If you used your rear perch mount holes on engine. Let me know you can have it.

Re: Project Vitamin C-10
Thanks Allan.

Re: Project Vitamin C-10
Hey Alan,
I run DOT 5 in my truck (and a lot of other vehicles in the past). Any fluid that will eat your paint when you spill a little bit is not for me. It is supposed to be a little more spongy than DOT 3. But it doesn't absorb water and has a higher boiling temp than DOT3. Expensive though. TR |
Re: Project Vitamin C-10
A little tip. Plain water will neutralise DOT 3. If you rinse it off right away. :uhmk:
|
Re: Project Vitamin C-10
New catalyzed urethane paints are not supposed to be effected by brake fluid..but it still seems to...go figure that one out
I run the silicone in a car I built, you MUST remove all traces of dot 3 before using silicone, and it has been known to dissolve some seals ,I flushed the whole system with denatured alcohol 3 times before using the silicone, the silicone will give a harder pedal and it is harder to find and certain brands can't be mixed, I used the Napa brand and it works great and is cheaper than other brands Oh and as far as the drive line, if you have a yoke push it in till it stops and pull it out 1/2 to 3/4" and measure from there to the rear flange, the drive shaft does not really move in and out too much, there are different types of yokes...long and short and car and truck I just get a used drive line that is too long and get the drive line guy to shorten it put new u joints in and balance it, costs about 150$ out here in Ca, a whole new drive line will run 450$ out here someone on here was able to use an aluminum one from a later truck in a short bed with no mods, I don't remember who at this moment but a search should turn that one up Great progress on your truck...the work you have done looks awesome, keep it up ! No progress on mine lately. But I did make a patch for Shannon's truck tonight just to see if I can do it. It still needs some trimming it's just a roughed out patch. It's the piece that catches all the debris in the cowl area. |

Re: Project Vitamin C-10
Thanks for asking. I haven't done a darn thing in over two weeks. There are numerous reasons. The main one I can contribute it too is working in a shop with 100+ degree and 150% humidity all day I'm pretty much spent by the time I get home. I know I'm not the only one affected by the heat. I guess it's a good reason to be lazy. ;)[/QUOTE]
I don't blame you/ I can't work in the humidity. When it's 110 here with very low humidity I can work in my shop. Lots of fans, and this year I installed a swamp cooler. Works good when it's a dry heat. |
