Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Both sides are now equal at 9 degs caster and .25 camber. Truck drives nice.
just a note if you buy CPP upper and lower tubular control arms each has 5 degrees built in yielding 10 degrees total caster, so I think that my 9 is just fine for my application. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Got to love single stage lacquer. I've painted several cars in the driveway in southern California early in the morning when there was no wind or dew.

I found a 10 bolt front axle cheap with the gear ratio I wanted so I figured I could rebuild it cheaper than just re-gearing my D44....
A couple of rainy days and it's going back together now all replaceable parts from the inside out are new... pressure washed inside and out...plugged all openings, sandblasted and wire brushed the housing...primed , painted and partially re-assembled... I'll install all the outer stuff once it's in the truck Attachment 2218370 Attachment 2218371 Attachment 2218372 |

Did some more on the truck. Soon I won’t be able to work on it , as it is now I have to pull it out of the barn to work on it not enough room in the barn with all the posts . Lock came out ok some really deep scratches. When I went to work on the window and regulator found one of the rollers was toast . Should have looked more closely so it’ll be a few days till I get a them . Start on the passenger door tomorrow

Long time no see guys! Haven't done much, heck just drove the truck for the 1st time in months yesterday. Nice to just start her up and go :-)
I did get a NOCO GENIUS2D Trickle Charger installed a bit ago (from Amazon), though I primarily didn't go out to get one for the truck but one for my daughter's '69 Austin-Healey Sprite (that is basically a MG Midget). Her car sat so long the battery died... I'd wished she'd get her drivers license already and get it out of my garage. Kids these days LOL Anyways, I figured if I was going to get her a trickle charger, I'd get one for my truck too. I mounted it on the right side of the battery tray (radiator side of the tray), there was just enough room to get its little mount on the battery tray. It actually ended up being the perfect spot as the wires for the battery and power were just long enough to get where they were needed. Didn't take the little charger very long to switch from pulsing red to solid green for a fully charged battery (its basically brand new). The Sprite, still blinking red after hours - so I am pretty sure the battery is weak (though my big charger said it was fully charged). If there was one complaint, it is the length of the power cord - it would have been nice if it was double the length. On the Sprite, the battery is up behind the motor on the firewall. So even with taking the charger to the max distance from the battery, the power cable can't reach out to the grill/bumper area. I am going to need to make a power cable extender so we don't have to open the hood to hook up the charger. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Nice! It's good to keep batteries maintained like that. I have two batteries in my travel trailer that were new 5 years ago, and checked out good awhile back when I had other electrical issues worked on. My trailer is at a storage lot, and the batteries are on the maintainer in the garage.

Always good to have batteries in a trickle charge . My son got me a solar cell that Toyota put on the Prius during transport to keep the battery tipped off I have it on the dump trailer most of the time .
Mixing it up today. I love doing body work with a 3 and 8lbs sledge |

Bumper came out nice . Painted it in the cargo trailer I’m converting into a small spray booth . Plan is to put two windows in with air filters ,trailer already has a camper door so I can get in and out . I have an explosion proof exhaust fan the we used at the body shop, plan is to vent it out the roof vent . Took it out after 40 minutes to bake in the sun .

And got some shiny trinkets. Got these from Summit because they were on sale and $20 cheaper than anywhere else added a few things I needed anyway and got free shipping too, they were drop shipped from Holley . Actually very impressed with them .

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
yes sir, very nice work on the truck and those emblems are gorgeous.top notch.
|
Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Those emblems actually came from Brothers Trucks, now owned by Holley
|
Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
The emblems are really nice and have some weight . Detail is very good we shall see how they hold up . I realized as I was putting the fenders on that if I buttoned up the front I would have to use barrel clips I prefer using the speed nuts .

Thanks for the kind words on the truck . I’d like to get it done before winter but it’s not looking so. Was 54 degrees today and windy . Got a few things done hopefully get the back glass in tomorrow.
New rollers on the regulator. Was fairly easy to do I did use a 6mm socket to hold the river flush while I tapped the other side with a cross peen hammer. No crushing of the roller . |

Buttoned up the door but I’ll have to disassemble to install the mirrors when they come . No big deal as luck would have it I bought a new counter parts dash pad and some armrests from a guy on Facebook . The pad is brown and the armrests are black but I think it works with the trucks colors . My dark fawn seat came yesterday too . Out of three passenger doors and two Drivers I managed to salvage 3 silver door plugs

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
