Truck is in awesome shape and I got a great deal on it. Freind had it parked behind his house for about 5 years and didn't want it anymore. 2000 dollars later, i drove home my new truck. He lowered it, but still had the lift springs and blocks. I am thinking that they will be going back on soon.Attachment 647687

its probably because of those pizza cutter wheels on the front of that thing plus the eagle alloys suck them in an extra inch IMO

you may want to check that again because if im not mistaken the dana 70 was the only one with that wide of a stance in the rear, as far as i know if it was a corperate 14 bolt it would be sucked clear into the fleetside without the dually fenders. or am i missing something here

Dang guys, didn't realize the truck of the month nominations had closed already. It was for one tons and seems like we're way under represented. Cochino12's and Proheader's would have been great nominees.

In my understanding, the dana rears all have a number on them near the gear box. My rearend has no numbers and of the pics of differential covers in my lmc catalog mine matches the 14 bolt cover. Does anybody have pics of the differences?

easiest way to tell, the 14 bolt has 14 bolts holding the diff cover on, hence the name 14 bolt. and the dana 70 has 10 bolts holding the diff cover on and if your truck is a 1 ton 4x4 than the rear dana 70 diff cover will match the front dana 60 diff cover

Sharpie72 has 2 sets. One NOS set and a slightly used set I believe.

300 seems fair for what nice ones go for in our area. Nice ones are hard to find here for sure.

I just looked and my 97 wide dually has the identical 14 bolt rear cover that my 82 narrow dually has. They must have dumped the Dana 70 for the corporate 14 bolt at some point.

When you say Narrow, are you talking about a cab and chassis? Cab and chassis DRW's had 14 bolts not Dana 70HD's.

As far as I know, the new body duallies were all 14bolts.

Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs

yes thats what I meant, after reading that I was confused, I thought maybe my 97 had a Dana 70. I knew the 82 has a 14 corporate. And it is/was a cab & chassis.

Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs

My '74 crewcab was/is also a cab and chassis truck. That is the reason why my duals only stuck out 1 1/2" pass the fleet side bed. As far as i can tell, no major research, they made 3 different 14 bolts in the square body era. One was a single wheel, the full dually and the cab an chassis dually. I also rockcrawl in my free and alot of my buddies have tried to buy the rear end out from under my truck for thier toyotas, suzukis, or single seat tube buggies. I just keep telling them they don't have enough money.

What kind of lift are you using and where are you getting tires?

Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs

Well, I have opted to change my plans on building the shortbox crewcab dually 2wd now.....all you guys with the lifted short crews have me rethinking my project now. Found a 91 Dodge Cummins with the 12V in it and plan to build a 4 linked, and possibly bagged version of a 4x4 crewcab shortbox.

Have the 89 Crew cab 2wd, short box located and on it's way home, Ford HPD60, and so forth. Also located a 90-91 crewcab 4x4 with no box and a TBI 454 as well, just waiting on the details. Sounds like it might be loaded.

Crazy thing is I might strip apart my 98 SAS project to build this one and part the rest out...lol. Ya I know, but the green one is pretty much done and will be going into the magazine around December or so. Need to start building something a bit more crazy/useable. This one will be all around useable, showable, and "play"able. Really want the crew cab for the kids, besides they look deadly. And I've always had a soft spot for the OOBS trucks anyways. Much more cost effective to do this body than to try to locate and purchase a crew in my OBS. And besides, this will give me the 1 ton frame as well.

SO....I will more than likely have a WHACK of OBS goodies to get rid of....or.....hahaha, maybe I'll tear the box off, exoskeleton the exterior and will be my new trail rig once it is lowered on a set of 38's or something. Hmmmmmmmm, interesting thought.
