Re: "Rice Rocket'

Hooked up my electric choke today, need help setting it?!!?!?!?!?? HELP!

oldblue1968chevy 10-29-2011 10:01 PM

Re: "Rice Rocket'

1 - With engine fully warmed up, remove your air cleaner

2 - Loosen those screws you installed

3 - Turn the housing clockwise until the choke flaps START to close in the carb

4 - Turn COUNTER clockwise one knotch (1/8")

5 - Tighten her up.

I found that if I set it in between the 1st and 2nd mark to the right of center and left it there, the choke worked perfectly every time.

This sound good?

Re: "Rice Rocket'

I'm just coming into this thread......so bear w/me. I think you've had great fortune to have found this truck. You need to give your dad a big heart felt hug/thank you for turning you onto it.

As far as the name, "Rice Rocket"........I'd much rather be known as an "Old Blue Goose" any old day......since the endeared term or RR refers to foreign made crotch rockets.

For those that make fun of your classic, just think of the return you'll have on your investment you're making and how they won't get sqaut for their heaps.

3 on the tree........had one in a '67 and I wish I still had that truck. I always had a good laugh on the young punks in the different garages I'd pull into in various places to get work done. They'd jump behind the wheel of the cool looking old truck only to be confused by the two "brake pedals" in the floorboard. That's usually when one of the older guys would step in and take over. I'd just return his grin as he pulled the truck into the bay.

Enjoy your build.......your dad done you a HUGE favor.

Greg
