The other day I was looking thru the classifieds and came across a thread for parts needed for wind windows, followed the link to car and truck site They had the division bar in shock, ordered the part and was happy with what I received, but, I didn't read the note which mentioned the original felt channel that was not included Ordered that part and was even more pleased with parts Originally what was supplied was a sticky thin piece of felt, which may have worked, but was the wrong thickness for the glass, so if you order the division bar, don't cheap out. Buy the felt with it as recommended in the notes The bead on the division bar is exact replica Now, I have to drill all the holes for the rivets |
Re: PO has me PO'd
Drilling new holes in division bar, stainless steel ,so make sure to use a cutting fluid, or you may work harden material

Been working on my aftermarket doors, couldn't get the gaps right, so I tried something extreme, I jacked the body up, about 1 inch and got the gap you see. Now just have makeup a body mount to fit |
Re: PO has me PO'd
1 inch seems like alot to shim a body mount
|
Re: PO has me PO'd
Well actually the original mount is 1/2” and the space to get the door lined up is 1/2”, so considering age of truck maybe the rubber mount is shot. Don’t know what size they should be
Thanks for the input |

Working on my weatherstripping ,making sure my door closes right, I put down 1 layer of cement, dry to the touch, then add 1 more wet and clamp in place Once you get it started its easy to turn inside out or backwards to apply glue |

Re: PO has me PO'd
This was my set up, hardest part was getting rivets thru the frame and gasket, tight tolerance, used a small file to open up the hole a little. Best method was to hold rivet with needle nose pliers
Used some flat stock as a backing plate clamped in vise https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...eb8ec0af_c.jpg16343937311643301726570970786712 by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/97391199@N06 |

This is a bit of a tedious task, but if you hold the backside of the gasket up, you can work the front edge up and into the groove, with windex to make it slippery |

Got the gasket installed a little, patience, patience It is the second groove that has to go in the channel, it's up by the vent widow frame I use tie wraps to fight gravity |
Re: PO has me PO'd
Got some more gasket installed, down to the corner, hard part was getting past the bracket for the vent window, you can’t use the sane angle of your push tool, so you have to get both ends started and then push straight down, and hope it grabs, found out that is easier to rotate frame in vise to get the best working position on gasket along with a clamp,of your own design, to keep the gasket in place
Liberal amounts of windex, and gallons of patience https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...515fedb0_c.jpg16356051968633727633948790815684 by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/97391199@N06 |
Re: PO has me PO'd
Yesterday was a total fail trying to get the curved part of the gasket to seat, so I changed up, and attacked it from the gasket end, hoping the curve will fall in place, which it did. Most of the curve is in place, just have to change up the tool as it is too wide to seat the gasket in the curved area
This clamp was invaluable in keeping gasket in place My plan is to let the windex dry, and grind down an old screwdriver and try tomorrow https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...20bb60c3_c.jpg16359498572501597310992686729244 by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/97391199@N06 |
