I'm not sure if its just the picture angle but why is the wheel so far ahead and not centered in the opening ???

The box is sitting back on the frame so the sanding tools don’t scuff the clear coat on the back of the cab…..

First picture was deceiving.

Got the new wire drive wheel for the mig . Night and day difference welding light steel . After I blasted the fender I found a few perforations so I cut more out of the donor fender .

Need to clean up the engine bay but I finally got the last little parts to get my belt drive system installed. This is the same setup I run on my suburban. Stock fan shroud with a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee electric fan works great in the arizona heat. Having ac next summer will be so nice

Installed the new Precision push on door seals . Install was super easy and the door closes fairly nice I didn’t have readjust it at all . Little slam not hard a slam but I’m sure it will crush as time goes on .I did have to cut it but a good set of metal scissors worked well , purchased from GMCPAULS .

I got the same ones, also from gmcpauls. I have to really slam hard. I guess I need to mess with adjustment.

Thanks for the post. I have the same seals and was wondering how hard/easy they might be to install. Is there adhesive behind the original seals ?

It’s a firm close but not hard slam . Guess I hit it right at the sweet spot installing the door .

Super easy to install took all of 5 minutes . I use a small rubber mallet to seat the seal . It takes a little back and forth roll to get the lip over the seam by hand then set it with the mallet . I didn’t use adhesive but there were no instructions so I winged it . I was going to use the Honda seals but they are no longer available and I wasn’t going to put used on it .

Now we shall see how the windshield goes in next week . I bought the precision rubber for that too .

Last body panels in high build primer . Dark grey is epoxy prime the body supply had no black and it’s been on back order for 6 weeks .Hopefully paint on Wednesday suppose to be warm enough .

The fender was much worse than I had expected . Took a lot more time just to save the triangles . I could have just worked a new one and welded these onto it:lol:

Nice . You use a buffing wheel on a bench grinder ? I have several different wheels but end up using the white one all the time .

Yes indeed - it was a Christmas gift a few years ago - set it up with a Delta stand. Came with two sewn wheels, but they are not of very good quality - looking for something better. It comes in very handy for things, that is for sure..

Glad you're going Full Sixty Eight with a White Face grille.Too many restorers just paint their truck one color and skip the White Face '68-Only look.I can understand not wanting to go thru the bother and expense of a second trim color, but the historical inaccuracy always bugged me.

To me that’s part of the charm of the 68s . I have two and I have a line on a third but I’m running low on space .

Doesn't the Battery Box attach thru that hole?
I have no idea why a PO would add a half-flattened angle iron to it.
Most POs are crack-pots IMHO.

Exactly.
I have a '68 C/10 Stepside [292] and a '71 GMC Jimmy [350] that are licensed and running.
On the back lot, I have a '67 K/10 Suburban [454] and a '72 K/5 body [0]. Both basket cases and parts donors in varying degrees.

After almost busting the Wiper Knob on the '68 trying to pull the Headlights on without looking [ running the '71 exclusively for 3 months] -- I've thought about moving the '71's Knobs around to match the '68 layout. I could add a 3- Spoke wheel too. A White Face GMC grille might be stretching the motif too far...
