A friend did a '79 Chev, it ended up just like that. Once the flip is done, you can fine tune the drop with lowering blocks. A C-notch will be a must. Good luck. |
Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
What to do depends on what was done to mount the '62 body onto the '83 frame. I built a similar truck for a guy once....I didn't like the ride height. I always try and discourage using the '73-'87 frames under these trucks. They just don't look good as a 2wd without a lot of work.

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
I used half of the 73 frame, and it was a PITA. I had to channel the rear of the body so the cab will fit level with the frame. I converted a 3/4 ton long bed to a 1/2 ton short bed, and used the back half of the 73 frame.
http://belair.smugmug.com/Other/1965...26_kh6CL-M.jpg You can see the cab doesn't fit quite right. It has to come down. http://belair.smugmug.com/Other/1965...22_SkrKE-M.jpg This how I made the cab come down in the rear. http://belair.smugmug.com/Other/1965...18_2axKA-M.jpg http://belair.smugmug.com/Other/1965...75_SwGhD-M.jpg After all this I still have to make cab mounts. If I was to do it again, I wouldn't do it. |

1. Make your first priority buying a decent digital camera. It doesn’t need to be expensive or fancy. Then take pictures of “everything”. Upload the pictures to a computer and back them up on a usb pen, CD, or whatever. Take photos of exactly how it looks as purchased, and as you disassemble every piece. The pics are invaluably helpful when it comes to reassembly, and is generally what people miss the most after they’ve owned the rig for 20 years and never took any pictures of what it looked like when they started out. 2. Write down a plan of what you want the truck to look like when finished, and fundamental steps to get there. It can be expensive and discouraging when you get started on impulse thinking, and realize later something has to be done over or changed completely. Good luck. |
