Re: Markeb01 Build Thread
It's more important not spill your cold beverage while slapping the 4 speed.

Re: Markeb01 Build Thread
That too!! Okay, and so I'm already tired of it and pulled it out for a repaint. It has a bunch of goo and running stuff that all needs to be cleaned off, and the hinges and latch needs to be spiffed up as well.

Re: Markeb01 Build Thread
So what did it come out of?
|
Re: Markeb01 Build Thread
Looking good Mark.
I like it as it is, but then a bit of contrast is probably setting off the rest of your handy work a lot more. |
Re: Markeb01 Build Thread
It came out of a 92-96 Ford truck. It just attaches with 3 bolts on the bottom. I've decided to leave the inside the original color, and just paint the outside black to reduce the contrast. It's a very slick console.

Re: Markeb01 Build Thread
Looking great! I think the console will look better black as well. The red seems to highlight nice unique pieces, and while the red console looks nice, it seems like it overpowers the red wheel, shift knob, and GMC label. I think those will standout more with a black console. Just my .02 though, and that's about all it's worth :).
Keep up the awesome work! |
Re: Markeb01 Build Thread
Well here’s the console all shiny black:

Re: Markeb01 Build Thread
Very Nice

Re: Markeb01 Build Thread
Thank you! Well after two days of having a new driveway put in, I finally got the new console modified inside to hold the stuff I carry everyday, and got it installed in the truck. Here it is:

Re: Markeb01 Build Thread
And for those with interest in the driveway, here's the old and new versions:
Old broken from tree roots and too many heavy trucks: http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/922/XLTUXL.jpg And here's the beautiful replacement unit after two hard days work. This one is full of rebar: http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/921/iBbmRq.jpg |
Re: Markeb01 Build Thread
How deep did you dig .

Re: Markeb01 Build Thread
The driveway is 6-8" deep on the street end, and 4-5" deep on the upper end. Also the entire lower section has a formed grid of rebar, and the upper end just has some loose pieces. It should hold up very well until I don't care anymore.
Thanks and Semper Fi!! Geee, and I didn't even mention the EGA decal in the back window! |
Re: Markeb01 Build Thread
Oh that should work out perfectl for you
|
Re: Markeb01 Build Thread
Made a few more adjustments to the interior. I reversed the two buttons on the dash placing the EGA on top, and the yellow 1stMAW emblem underneath, and now they both display better. I also went back to the white 2" shift knob as it fits my hand best. I should probably take some pics with the red knob as well as I can never make up my mind which I like best. The plastic drink holding cubs arrived and were ground down to fit perfectly, so they are in place. And finally, I also picked up a replica Hurst Super Shifter boot with the original big red H stamped into the top plate. It fits perfectly and looks great. That should take care of things for a while:

Re: Markeb01 Build Thread
.
. Hands down, one of the best looking C10 interiors on this forum IMO! Never get tired of seeing new pics of it! . . |

It’s been quite a while since I’ve had anything to report on the truck, but I finally broke down and made a change. I also dumped Imageshack after numerous photos have been deleted from my build thread. This is my first attempt at using the forum tools to post photos, and I'm having a bit of trouble which will improve in the future. Please ignore all the links below, as I will figure out how to get rid of them soon.
I really liked the 49 Buick style hood ornament I put on a while back (shown here): http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1488247343 But I always wanted the Flying Lady off the 55 Nash cars (minus the ugly wings). I finally found one at a price I could afford, so I picked I up, filled the cut marks in the chest for the wing, painted them silver, gave it a great polish job and slapped it on the hood. My wife really objected before I spent the money, as the Buick ornament went along with the Buick grille and portholes, but I just knew the lady would really finish the truck. So here is the finished product in three new photos: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1488247456 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1488247456 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1488247653 And so I wouldn't get accused of wasting the old ornament, I installed in on the front of my wife's John Deer lawn tractor: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1488247456 |
Re: Markeb01 Build Thread
I like it!

Re: Markeb01 Build Thread
Glad to see you pop up out here! The ornament change is really cool... and the Buick one on the JD is spot on, well played Sir!

Re: Markeb01 Build Thread
Good to hear from you Mark! As for the emblems, I like either one. They're easy enough to change that you can always rotate back & forth if you wish. Hope things are going well for you. :bowtie:

Re: Markeb01 Build Thread
