Very nice. Making your own mallet is easy on you wallet. I'm a poet and didn't even know it. Probably because it doesn't rhyme. But hey, it's spelled the same.

History or Discovery had some neat 2 season food series I started watching.

While there were a bunch of places along the east coast that sold pizza, it never got a national foot hold, and it was closer to "Italian" pizza and not what we're used to today. Pizza Hut and Dominos are credited for creating the pizza we all know and love today. The "cola wars" is another really neat one to watch.

There are very few Pizza huts ,dominos or other chain "pizza" places left around here . Plenty of mom and pop places that still speak broken English here .

Working from home today..Very strange. Don't think I could do this for more then a day or 2. It's Friday so happy hour is gonna come early today.

I'm going to light a fire later and chase the wife around the house. It's 35out there now so no ice yet.

Same here, the ones that are left are a small spot in like a strip mall thing.

I miss the 80s/90s pizza huts with the big red roof, buffet, all of the colored glass lights, the big red drink cups, and the deep dish pizza... They're all but gone here.

I'm actually a big papa johns fan (lived on it in college) but for some reason my wife hates their pizza, so that means we never get it

I'd rather eat the box then eat a chain Pizza. I like dive bars better. At least the ones with good food.
Jar sauce?? No way.

Picked up a few of the these fire suppressant aerosol can . Supposedly works on electrical and grease and says it’s easy clean up with a damp cloth and won’t damage auto parts . For $4.50 a can it can’t hurt I’ll still keep my bigger extinguishers in my vehicles . Made in USA too

I did know that pizza is an American thing, not from Italy. Same as spaghetti. Marco Polo brought back spaghetti squash from the Orient and Italians liked it so much they started making a pasta version.

I don't believe Pizza Hut and Dominos got pizza going here. They are the result of it already being started my mama and papa, I guess in NY, but there is a strong Italian heritage in Chicago, too, and Chicago pizza is a big thing. As far as chain restaurants, Pizza Oven, who made thin crust rectangular pizza in this area was around back when Pizza Hut got started. I was just saying there is no such thing as J&P pizza and an Italian restaurant names New York didn't serve it. It should be J&P New York Pizza, not New York J & P Pizza. That's like saying "Chevy Special-k Truck Shop"

I have fond memories of Shakey's Pizza...one of the 1st / early pizza franchises. Their 1st store opened 1954. The one we went to had a rinky-tink piano and on the weekends they usually had a Barbershop Quartet to sing along with.

This weekend getting ''stuff'' away from the garage wall our breaker box is on. Generator is arriving Monday and electrician is coming Wednesday to install transfer switch inside and plug, outside.

You never really have an appreciation for how much ''stuff'' you have until you have to move it...twice.

Working on a wood carving. Borked the first one by chopping off a necessary piece, which flew to who-knows-where in my garage "shop" So I cut out a new piece, and when smoothing the edges on the stationary belt sander, lost control and and it fell on the floor, denting the feces out of it. :waah: Fortunately, I can hide the dents on the back side.

We had a Shakey's Pizza, and on Friday/Saturday night's two local high school boy's played old ragtime music, one on piano and one on banjo. Actually, very talented.

Yesterday I snagged a set of wheels that popped up on craigslist right down the street for a price I couldn’t pass up. Threw them on this morning. Feels like a brand new truck…

We never had anything like that at the Shakey's around here. Just bored workers selling dry pizza. I was never a fan.

The one place that surprised me was Chuck E Cheese. They actually had good pizza. I would get dragged kicking and screaming to some kid party. But the pizza was good. And they had beer. :) All the dad's would sit at a table and eat pizza and drink beer. It wasn't bad.

Rich. You must go to better dive bars than me. All they have is popcorn and peanuts, or nothing.

We have 2 good pizza parlors up here. One is always good all the time, but the other is hit or miss depending on who's cooking.

I spent the day attempting to get my cable and internet hooked up at my new place. I was lucky enough to speak with robots and people from India and waste all my time. I still have no order because my address doesn't exist according to them. :dohh: Then I put up some solar security lights. During the last power outage my neighbors place was still lit up. I thought that I need to get some of those. Super easy to install. No wires, no batteries. Works great.

Must not be the same as Chuck E Cheese around here. That stuff is gross & can't be called pizza. About the only thing worse is Little Caesars.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

What some people consider dive bars I consider the best. A bar is a bar, a place to waste your time and money, whether it's a biker bar or one with brass rails, mirrors, expensive woodwork, and high dollar fare. A good ole bar burger can't be beat. Lou & Joes is an old roadside tavern that used to be pretty rough. Some still think it is while the more wise know it is the best place to eat in Mt. Airy, actually just outside of there. They have a dining room separate from the bar, as most places do. We used to have those places all around the outskirts of town, but only Lou & Joe's now. Neighboring small towns all have their own. Never had pizza at any of them.

I get pizza when I want something cheap and ready to eat. I'm fine with Domino's, Pizza Hut (we just lost ours), Papa John's, or local yocal. Our Pizza Hut had the central fire pit. I took the kids there many times. The oldest hole in the wall place, Cozy Corner, just went out. They had great subs and pizza. Yuppies want something different and "old" is a bad word for them. They are so stuck on "moving forward" it makes them blind to all the good that surrounds them. I don't think Cozy Corner had an 'app'. I'm going to vomit now, please excuse :puke:. We have a regional chain in town, Vocelli's, and their pizza is really good. Only them and Domino's deliver out here. Vocelli's is cool because they will deliver to where the next one north (10 miles) overlaps. They don't leave a "no delivery" dead zone. Online Dominos thinks I am out of their delivery area. I'm a call it in guy anyway. I only go online to look at the menu

And I remember Shakey's from high school. We didn't have one nearby. We would all load up and travel to the nearest, probably only, one in the next county. They had a Gay '90s atmosphere, if I remember correctly. Maybe even an automated piano. Reminded my of the western saloon atmosphere, without the smoky corner poker game and ol' stink eye looking over my girlfriend. More eastern with the handlebar mustache/straw hat vibe. My aunt and uncle in Baltimore both sang in barber shop quartets. My aunt was in the Sweet Adelines, sang baritone. Aunt Doris smoked and drank whiskey. You know that voice. Uncle Ted sang tenor.

What I did yesterday is similar to what Paul did. Lost my job 1/21 and still trying to sign up for unemployment. I made the mistake of answering 'yes' to receiving benefits in the past. That was the only time I ever collected and it was in 1982. I was just being honest, should have answered 'no'. The system wouldn't allow me to register an account, kept asking me to log-in with username and password. They didn't have computers in '82!

I tried the live chat, automated was a joke. Live was hard to get through. 1st thing was press 1 for English. I'd push it and it would say "Press 3 to return to the menu", then ask to press 1 again, and again, and again! I pushed 1 rapidly several times as I yelled "I AM PUSHING 1 NOW!!! That got me over to automated chat . That was no help. Try again, same thing, this time pushing 1 several times and yelling got me live chat. No help, just came up with I had to call and speak with an agent.

So it has been all this time trying off and on to get through. Got through last Friday and came up with I need to treat it as fraud to go back to that first question. I had to take pictures of both sides of driver lic, ss card, and birth cert to e-mail in. Did that Sunday. Been trying all week, off and on, to get a call through. Finally get someone on Thursday, told her I had sent that e-mail, and she asked me for all my info. Turns out I had an account registered 5/21 already using all my info but from a different e-mail. I had my identity stolen! It actually is a fraud case.

Next I had to call the fraud hotline. Dial, send, phone indicates calling a long time, then call ended w/o a ring. Ok, this is going to be fun. I decided to take a ride out to an antique mall so I could spend the day looking at cool stuff while repeatedly dialing. My house has a poor signal that sticks me in a chair by the window. I have three choices, actually. That's why I took the drive, where I knew a good signal would be maintained.

With phone on the seat, I'd tap the fraud hotline number, send, then speaker. Wait till call ended, do it again. After 23 attempts someone picked up, so I pulled over to complete the call. They are now in the process of clearing this up so I can finally register an account. They can't say how long this will take, not expecting quick results. I'm waiting till next week to try.

That's a real pain the a$$. The extra unemployment they were giving out was like a giant Christmas present to skammers all over the world. There was fraud at unprecedented levels.
I love a good bar burger. Sometimes you find great food in the darnedest places.

When the kidz were little and had all their friends over for swimming party's we bought Little Caeser's to feed them all. #1 It was cheap on the wallet and #2 Kidz don't know what good pizza is, so it worked out quite well.

But you are 100% correct Little Caeser's sucks!
