Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

Since the last update, I've sorted the Brake light issue, New switch installed...
Replaced the Turn Signal switch, and thanx to over-thinking the issue with the brake lights... I had both rear lights blinking whenever the left or right blinkers were used...:banghead: While attempting to sort out the inop brake lights, I wired the 3rd brake light feed to both brake lights...:dohh: (yep, epic fail on my part...) Well the other day after washing off the top layer of dirt, and snapping the previously posted pics, I ran the gas tank dry when returning the stepper to it's designated space... I added fuel and fired it up, only to have it die and not restart... BUILD AN OLD TRUCK THEY SAID, IT'LL BE FUN THEY SAID...
Seems the old gas, I assumed burned up...didn't. Upon removal of the carb and disassembly, both fuel bowls full of crud...:sumo: A quick cleaning, new base gasket and once again starting...
So, after work today I re-adjusted the carb and sorted the Turn signal issues and repaired... So now, as Phil Robertson says, "HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY!!!" :ele::two:

Here are a couple of pics...

Next up, attach some pipe and mufflers, get tags so I can legally put some shakedown miles in... Attend Clem's Bash...:metal::metal::metal:

Laterz...

Every day your'e getting closer to the legalized road ready version of your stepper.

I've got mine on the lift and started on the rear brakes. I've got the parts on order.
It is in pretty good condition and the it is need of a great deal of attention.
The 6 cylinder is kind of growing on me. It is just a plain Jane basic truck.

Not done by any means, but at wanting to be at least legal and road-worthy by tomorrow afternoon... Big push to get ready to drive to Clem's in 2 weeks...

Spent yesterday addressing things like changing spark plugs, installing new serpentine belt, getting started on body work on rear fender with added gas door, installing door weatherstripping, adjusting doors, getting exhaust pipes and mufflers ready... no pics from yesterday's adventures, but closer and closer...

:burnout:

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

Well the weekend found me getting tons of stuff done, like the bodywork on the fuel door...

https://c8.staticflickr.com/9/8407/3...4e519f1e_c.jpgUntitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

I also used the existing exhaust to get the Stepper ready for legal street use...

https://c7.staticflickr.com/9/8129/2...3608a2be_c.jpgUntitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

The collectors welded on and the pipes installed and I was ready to do a valve adjustment, that's when the fun began, NOT! Pulled a valve cover to find milky oil...:banghead: Thankfully, it appears the intake didn't line up as well as it should, so... water in the oil...
https://c1.staticflickr.com/6/5477/2...5a65555a_c.jpg by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

Instead of adjusting valves, off came the intake and a cast aluminum quadrate intake (Which came with the motor) was bolted in place... tonight the Stepper runs again...:uhmk: I also got the License plate which makes the truck legal...:metal:

Aiming on driving to work soon... still have a couple of jobs that need to be addressed...

More to come!

Got me grinning madly Don.

That is not bad progress for keeping a full time job on the side.

Motor sounds great too, thanks for preview.
