Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Congratulations! I bet that was a great feeling. Some may think that is a long time. But time sure does fly. I took my 1965 apart almost 6 years ago.
I wonder some days if I'll ever drive it again. Enjoy it! |

Finished smoothing firewall and sprayed self etching primer over entire firewall.
Hung a dry erase board with my goals for the summer. |
I hate sanding. I finished stripping and sanding all the old oil based stain off my bed wood so that I can stain it and finish it with a water based stain and a 2 part finish. I love having a wooden bed but I hate having to refinish it for the third time. I keep it outside and what I used the first 2 times didn't hold up. No pictures I will post pics after it is finished.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
I am working on replacing the rot in the cab on the drivers side front. I have the floor pretty much welded in but still working on the kick panel and fire wall. This thing is worse than I thought. My goal is to finish metal repair on the cab this summer. Plus I am making my own panels for the most part!

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
after rebuilding the motor this weekend......
Goof off is perfectly fine, you have already sweated the big stuff and earned your break. Today I worked in North and West London with a colleague, so when we called it a day by 3.45, I hit the road a cross North London to Real Steel, purveyors of all things American. I had a short shopping list for Paul Y and mate Martin and needed to be back in Kent at Ebbsfleet International station to pick up Nicola and Hannah who had been on a 4 day city break in Cologne, Germany by 6.45 I decided after looking at my water pump, which worked perfectly, that I would replace it with a new one while the motor was in bits, at £39.00 for the pump it made sense. I also bought a new transmission oil filter and gasket as the gearbox is getting a shift kit fitted when I do the filter. Anyone with tips, advice or experience of fitting them..... Now is your chance. Please tell me all you know. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...sqde6t6zc.jpeg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...sxfdcs34u.jpeg I thought the pump really is rather good looking. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...s8njbcdmm.jpeg |

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
well..I've put the new rebuilt axle back on.
the new wheels are on... still not sure if to leave the caps on or off. I think no hub caps suits the truck better. dont think the chrome rings look any good because they got lost as the rims are white, would probably suit it better if I had other rims colour or/and chrome bumpers. on another news, ****ty news, I found one engine mount is broken and the other one is cracked. great!! who knows, maybe this was what caused all the shaking on the truck and not the axle, but anyway the axle was on its way, so glad I caught that in time. Need to get under the truck and check the engine mounts, see if there's any markings or serial numbers on it as this is an 69 Buick GS 350 engine in a 65 C10 Chevy truck... great, its one thing after the other hahaha anyway..some photos!...we all like photos! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...331_175034.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...402_103146.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...402_120623.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...402_121006.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...402_122050.jpg |
