Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Dan, Patrick's lists a stud kit required for '54 to'62 to run the Wayne valve cover. Guessin' it's some kind of adaptor kit.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Oh. Thanks!

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
No kit on this one, it's a 55 truck and this 235 was in it, never checked the numbers to see what year it was, looked like it was the one it came with but there are people on this site that know more than me about a 235.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
"Hmmm....I'm not an expert on stovebolts but I THINK that means you've got a 216 and not a 235. If that's true then you don't have full oiling via an oil pump, you've got a splasher system.
Can someone here with more knowledge than me(meaning most of you, lol) chime in?" Splash oilers were the 216's and 53 235's, full pressure oilers were 54-62's. Starting in 54 a bypass external oil filter was also an option. As Old Crow correctly states, the cool looking Wayne valve covers requires a stud relocation kit and ideally a 216 valve gasket. The TF 235's also have the water pump positioned lower so without checking block numbers for confirmation that is probably an original or similar year engine that have been very nicely upgraded. |

I bought the truck when I was 15 for $500, and I've owned it for 16 years now. I put a 350 small block in it with a Turbo 350 Trans. The rear end is out of a 1976 Camaro and has the stock Camaro gears (can't remember the ratio I'd have to look it up). I used an adapter kit to put the Camaro disc brakes on the stock front spindles and a power brake booster to complete the brake system. Then installed a painless wiring kit to convert it to 12V. I added a GM tilt steering column and power steering unit to finish off the steering. And then got started on the body work by creating a seamless hood and my own design to finish off the back of the truck (tailights, rear bumper, etc.) Had to install multiple patch panels because of rust as well. I consider it a work in progress though, there's still a lot of things I would like to do with it. Soon I will be looking for some expert advice here on upgrading the suspension as well as steering for the front end....to be continued. |

I know this to be a fact. I had my pickup for 15 years and did a ton of research on it and the motor because of what the PO told me about it. It didn't add up to what the internet was telling me about 235's. He was right, course he was the one that put the motor in it back in the late 50's. http://www.paulsroom.com/BlueHost/we...ngineSwap.html http://www.secondchancegarage.com/pu...gine-specs.cfm http://vcca.org/forum/ubbthreads.php..._Engine_for_Bo http://www.langdonsstovebolt.com/tec...-better-sixes/ |
Re: How about some pics of 47-59
sweet70, great info, you mind posting a photo of this plate? I actually have quite a few 235's for some future builds. I also have a 53' belair powerglide. It would be nice if it was a 235 as you state.
