I hadn't posted progress for a while because my rechargeable batteries in the camera went south (and I hate transferring pics from the phone to the computer). Anyway, with new batteries, here's a pic of the cab back on the chassis, HOPEFULLY PERMANENTLY! The cab has been completely scuffed and buffed as well.

Oh, and I built a hood picker out of scrap because I got tired of waiting for someone to come over and help me take hoods on and off. ...and, I didn't want to part with $100 to buy one. (It's the purple 4-legged spider thingy attached to the cherry picker.) I have covered the hooks on the bottom with tygon tubing, but still have to do the same on the edges of the four pieces of angle iron.

I got out busting my butt and finished the inside of the passenger fender. I got it sand blasted and treated in Ospho. WHOOO HOOO! I then started stripping the paint off the outside of the drivers fender but that was put on hold when my brother arrived with his HHR that he spun into a guard rail with. All he wanted was to pull it out so he could skulp it with bondo. He lives hours from me so to repair the whole thing isn't possible. But I told him I would go back in time, I jumped into the time machine and went back to the late 80's and used my slide hammer with the most awesome screw puller ever made. If there was a catagory for Snap On precision top of the line highest priced screw puller this baby would be it! Check this out guys, you would put the tip of this thing against the metal and slide the weight on the slide hammer INTO the panel so the screw pokes through the metal! You then screw it it and slide the weight out to pull the dent! LOL OMG this was hilarious I yank and hammered and yanked and hammered to get it close enough to coat it in bondo, done deal.

The cool thing is I got my new aprons, parking brake parts and window mouldings, three problems that have been weighing on me solved! Thanks so much Jay!

My wife bought that wonderful color in a Krylon poof can to paint a wire frame goose for her garden about 10 years ago. Finally figured out a way to get rid of that one, AND I'll be able to find the picker when I need it because of the color! How many poof cans do we car nuts have, collectively? Here's about half of mine (Maybe I should start a picture thread. I can see the title now: "Pictures of Your Poof Can Collection".):

...and I know - somebody will want a picture of the goose, but it's 2:00 AM and it's somewhere out in the barn.

LOL, I like that, I have stored stuff like that for years only to find out it's bad and can't be used when I go to finally use it!

So, I have to say, I am having so much fun stripping my fenders....said no one ever while stripping fenders.

Got my lift installed and working today. Put the truck in the air for the first time and ......I thinking I'm installing a mustang II front end. I notice the suspension was not straight up front. Also, the forward mount of the rear springs has me puzzled as to how you take out the spring. This and the huge play I found in the rear end makes me think I should go to a four link and new axle.

I got the front fenders all stripped and ready for primer, WHOOOO HOOOOO!

With that and fixing the front of my brothers HHR today, pulling the bumper cover, repairing the fender mounting and installing a head light I am ready to go to work tomorrow so I can relax! :metal:

So cool to hear! On the expectations, it's an old truck, they are going to dig it! It's funny, my Rambler is NOT very nice, a "Maaco" like paint job, over dents even, rust hole in the bottom of the drivers door, the interior is CRAP all redone 20 years ago but HORRIBLY done with wrinkles and stuff, and people still think it's a perfect original or it was "restored."

Thanks, Jim.

No progress yesterday, or today. Tomorrow is my volunteer day, and the leaves are 2" deep, heading for a foot if I don't get out there. (Tell me again why I bought a wooded lot?)
