Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
i removed my steering wheel in order to change out the turn signal switch. i took the opportunity to clean and polish the steering wheel. plan to really polish up the column as well before i put it back together. i did find out that my steering wheel is worth $500 bucks which is neat. i bought it about 15 years ago for about $200. i was thinking about removing it for an original wheel. nice to know if i decide to do that i will be able to sell it for a little $$. i also pulled the bed off for better access. i prepping for undercoating. im probably going to have to use a combo of roll on and aerosol. anyone have good luck with specific brands?

That truck reminds me of an almost identicle truck a guy named Joe Mines from your area owned in the 1970's he owned Joe Mines Blasting and it had a set of aluminum slots on it . One of the best looking trucks on the road in North Jersey at the time . Very Nice ! :chevy: |

Finally finished my internally regulated alternator swap! I put a bus bar on the core support and ran an 8ga cable to the other junction, cleaned out a bunch of old bad wiring, then redid a bunch of grounds and added a better thicker ground cable from the block to the frame. Now even though the battery is in the bed, it has 14.4 volts with lights and wipers on and the battery ammeter still works. Maybe not a big deal for many folks, but this was a victory for me! So stoked!

Well in August I bought my wife a truck 72 short bed going to be a stepside! sooo i have been slowly working on it. So i replaced the center part of the dash since someone cut it and put in a double din set up we wanted it factory. I started to lay out the wiring harness so i can have it really clean under the dash. The green truck was my grandfathers I did a frame off on a few years back with information from all of you here on this site.

I've been working on improving the u-joint angles on my two-piece driveshaft. I discovered that the center support was quite loose, despite the fact that it is only about a year old and has just a couple thousand miles on it. A local driveline shop rebuilt the driveshaft and installed a new center support. I'm not sure what the brand is of that one, but I ended up replacing it with a Federal Mogul/Bower/BCA unit that was made in the USA. Here's a video that compares the two center supports.

cleaned and sprayed epoxy primer on the engine, followed by single stage hugger orange color...think it turned out good....engine is back in the truck and running well now. Cant wait to put some miles on the ol girl. |

Took out the 72 to get some diesel for the Kubota. Nice day and we had rain last few days so whatever salt was in the road was washed away . But because we’re in the NYC reservoir watershed they can’t use much salt on the road .
