Hello all I'm new to this site and wanted to post some pictures of my 1984 Silverado...I had an 85 and sold it and just acquired this 84. I plan to lower the truck and make some modifications. It's got a rebuilt 350 bored .30 over, roller rockers, headers, edelbrock 650 carb, turbo 350 trans with a shift kit.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
That 84 has been on CL for months, guess he finally sold it. Hope you got it for a lot less than what he thought his "show truck" was worth. :)
Welcome to the site! |
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
Yeah I'd seen it on craigslist for a while, and yes I got an amazing deal on the truck. I think he just wanted to get rid of it!

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
Well, there is no denying it is a very clean truck and looks awesome! I just know at one time I seen advertised as a "show truck" and he was asking like $8000 for it. On the flip, probably no doubt he had that much in it, more probably, but you gotta draw the line! Did they tell you who painted it? Hopefully not paint masters or someone like that.
You'll get years of good looks from it I bet. :metal: Be sure to check out the OK section here, lots of OKC guys, several Broken Arrow/Tulsa/Bixby/Claremore guys and just a few of us in Owasso (I'm in Owasso as well). You're not alone. |
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
Yeah he had $11,000 in the truck...So he told me, I paid $4800! I thought was a damn good deal. I don't know who painted And don't really care. Eventually I'm going to paint it black and completely redo the interior I just wanted something that looked good while I played with it. I think I'm going to lower it 4" in the front and 6" with a belltech kit.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
First thing I'd do is get the A/C working. ;) And 11k, I don't doubt it. This stuff adds up very quickly. Is a truck to be proud of though.

Here's my shorty. An OG 1978 250 I6 with three on the tree.:metal:
It was original right down to the 1978 shocks. So Far I've pitched the shocks, and added a 1.25" front sway bar off a suburban. My plans are lowering it, adding a 5spd from a 4.3 S10, and AC. |

DON"T LAUGH!
(My feelings might get hurt) :haha: I bought this truck this past weekend for my winter project. Up here in Alberta, Canada these trucks usually go for $1,000 + in bad shape and anywhere from $2,500 + in decent shape. Good shape (even with bad cab corners, they are asking $5,000 to $6,000 + on www.kijiji.ca) So, I paid $750 for an '87 Silverado with power everything, 305 TBI, 4 speed automatic. I already have two new doors, new windshield, new tailgate & rims from another project and I can get panels for the rest fairly cheap. Plans are to go to a streetable 383 (from a solid 350 I already have from my parts truck), rebuild the tranny, etc etc but to start with a strip down and get the frame blasted and painted before it snows here. Basically, I want something that I can fit in my garage and work on in the winter as I can't do anything on my driveway any time of year because my old-retired alcoholic neighbor is a lunatic that calls city by-law on me regularly. Old prick! (Maybe that's what I should call this truck!) :fry: |
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
Can't go wrong for $750, but thats alot of rust, or should i say character

I am trying to figure out more information about putting the 88-98 beds on these trucks.. I have one currently on my 67 and I am selling it.. a guy called me about putting it on a 85... He was worried about the gas tank that is on the outside of the frame.. do any of you know what would have to happen or if these beds clear? Please PM so I dont highjack this thread but I saw the picture of one here on page 6.. |
