Re: '63 GMC Project
I don't really know. It would definitely fit the frame but I don't know how wide the bedsides are on a stepper. I can measure how wide it is for you or you can give *****************/Quality Air Ride a call at 812-782-3581. It's called a 63-72 C-10 Rear Wishbone Super Lift System.

Thanks man! Yours is really looking good.

Re: '63 GMC Project
Quick (and possibly stupid) question. Are the grille letters on a chrome grille made of aluminum or stainless? I cleaned my truck up a little 2 days ago and forgot to do the letters. Need to know what to take to the storage unit to shine them up.
|
Re: '63 GMC Project
Man that truck is amazing!, I need to get the ball rolling once the weather breaks, Ohio weather is ridiculous
|
Re: '63 GMC Project
Tell me about it. 80* and sunny one day and 40* and rainy 2 days later. You know what they say, If you don't like the weather in Ohio, just wait 5 minutes.
|
Re: '63 GMC Project
if your letters are chrome they are not stainless. mine the chrome wore off and they are pot metal
|
Re: '63 GMC Project
I guess they could be chrome, they just don't look it because they aren't quite as shiny as the grille and original front bumper and there isn't any pitting or spider web cracking on them.

Re: '63 GMC Project
You man have a Alum grill. That was a option then.
|
Re: '63 GMC Project
My grille is definitly chromed steel. It has a couple small rust spots that need to be cleaned up with an S.O.S. pad. I don't know if the GMCs had an aluminum grille option. The letters just don't look the same.

Re: '63 GMC Project
Thought this was kinda cool. My buddy's 305 V8 next to my 305 V6. The bottoms of both motors are pretty close to being equal distance from the floor.

Re: '63 GMC Project
Thanks Sam! Get yours running yet?
|
Re: '63 GMC Project
You got to do anything else to the truck man? Any plans for paint or gonna rock the patina?
|
Re: '63 GMC Project
I'm keeping the patina, at least for a couple of years. I still need to get the exhaust finished, get the alignment done, a new windshield seal installed and the front turnsignals wired up. I also noticed a small spot of tranny fluid in my driveway last time I drove it so I need to get that sorted out too.

BTW do you have any pictures of your steering set up, I'm having some troubles setting mine up. Just seems like the steering shaft is sticking out a lot further than any others I've seen so it causes the center shaft to hit the frame. |
Re: '63 GMC Project
I'll go out and get you some today. Yours may be hitting because of the Z in the frame though. That would bring the frame up closer to the steering shaft. You may need to put a third joint in there somewhere and support it off the frame. Some people use a Heim joint threaded into a homemede bracket and run the shaft through it.
