Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
oh I'm looking, the guy hit a car in front of mine and totaled it, pushed it into mine and then hit every panel. then hit a car behind mine and broke the transaxle. It was at night no one heard it, he picked up hit peices and took off.
Dont mean to be off the subject Alan, so get back to work on those body panels! |

Round 2 with the bed. 198 brought the fleet to me today. Rust wise it's in great shape. Dent wise is another story. Here are some pics.
I hit the sides real quick with a long block with 80 to show the highs. http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00503.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00504.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00505.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00506.jpg Put the floor braces in to support the bed while I work on it. http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00500.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00501.jpg Got some rust to repair http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00471.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00472.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00474.jpg rear corner pulled away http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00473.jpg |

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
Alan, how are you going to fix the mild rust there? Just curious. Are you going to trim out the rust and patch in a new lip?
|
Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
I think the holes since right in the middle and there little, maybe license plate. dents dont look too bad. Nothing a little filler and hammers can fix!

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
I'm a scrounger if ya'll haven't realized that yet. I started off by trying to find some metal here in town, good luck. Then remembered there is Ingrams truck bodys here in town. They didn't have any metal light enough for me, but said I could dig threw the dumpster. So I went dumpster diving and brought this home.
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00508.jpg Worked on the LT bedside only, patching rust and pulling dents. I had a hard time getting the pull pins to stick. I was using an extension cord so I eliminated the cord and it worked better, but still had some trouble. http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00509.jpg Didn't really want to go up this high, but the metal was pretty thin from corrosion. I felt better by eliminating it. http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00513.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00515.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00517.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00520.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00521.jpg |
