Yeah, I briefly considered switching to manual brakes to suck the MC back to the firewall another 6" or so....but the truck manifold will work great once i cut the flange off and weld and elbow to it :)
Sounds like you have some thinking and planning to do on yours! |

Got the battery mounted last night. Should keep it tucked up out of the way in an area that would otherwise be wasted space.

Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
With the 5.3 I would assume your running the 1.10 a/r turbine housing for a quick spool? Either way VERY nice!

Been bouncing around to different tasks on the truck, to stay moving forward. Hung the passenger side fender on, and put the inner fender in to determine turbo location. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps5fd2315c.jpg Fabbed up a bracket to hang the turbo off the cylinder head and the PS exhaust manifold. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps33c4fbb2.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...psb8a35ba5.jpg Started on some of the hotside plumbing. Didn't get too carried away, since I'm still waiting for some parts to show up in the mail. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps7f675889.jpg Decided to call in the troops on Saturday. This thing has to make a 700 mile round trip on May 17. The clock is ticking. My brother and father in law http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps1ede34e7.jpg My buddy Brent http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...psc4b673c0.jpg My dad http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps85d9de0c.jpg My brother finished up the complete transmission and engine harness, as well as the fuse block. Talk about a clean setup...but it should be, since he designs wiring harnesses for a living. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...psb8928c7c.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...psb78a8f03.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...psb565b820.jpg Brent was a man on a mission building the turbo merge. Basically started from scratch and started hammering away to create a masterpiece. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps672a8a28.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...psbab2e80e.jpg Finished the brake connections http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps257cc346.jpg Also finished the steering http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...psa5cb921e.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps5d263982.jpg I'm kind of a fire extinguisher geek ever since my '69 almost burned to the ground in college. So, a HalGuard Halotron 1 fire extinguisher is mounted within easy reach http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps12fdc5d6.jpg |

Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Are you concerned at all about the lag? Seems like a huge turbo like that would take a lot to spin up.

Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Damn... that is a BIG turbo. I had to look twice at that first pic of it hanging in the engine bay; thought maybe it was photoshopped for a laugh.
You are going to have traction issues. lol |
