Re: 72 Suburban Build
I hear ya, thats why I asked, every accuair system I had seen so far had used the e-level. How much was the accuair kit if you dont mind saying?
Looks great on the floor, love the way the accuair rises and lowers. |

I hear you on the no room on the budget for the elevel set up. I did the Accuair manifold and wired it into a new AVS 7 switch box I had. It took some research to get the male end of the harness... found out its a Molex brand plug. The rest I just had to figure out.
That controller looks slick though. I will do the Accuair rocker set up when the budget allows. Juan |
Re: 72 Suburban Build
The Accuair rocker is pretty sweet. I was playing with it today and found all kinds of different stuff it does.

Well I got a good start on mounting the brake setup today. I started by trimming the factory bracing out of the way so i have a flat surface to mount to. Next I trimmed up a piece of 1/4" steel to weld in there. This gives me a good base to weld to and strengthens the firewall. Finally, I tacked the assembly up there to see where I was at. I have been having a tough time trying to find out how far it needs to be from the firewall to clear everything so i figured, what the hell, just tack it up there and see and go from there. It looks like I need to move it out about 5/8" to be able to get the booster in there. Tomorrow I'll re-measure everything, make some mounting brackets so it can bolt in and then finish welding it all up. If any of you guys have opinions, PLEASE SHARE THEM!! I won't be offended. This is the first time I've done anything like this so its all uncharted territory.

Looks like she fits in there pretty good.. Did you get the remote fill also?

Re: 72 Suburban Build
Yes I did.

Re: 72 Suburban Build
Nice. I was wondering how it all fits in there. So when you weld the plate in, the bracket gets bolted to that? How does it bolt to it? Wouldnt the pedal placment dictate were it needs to be mounted?

Pedal position does dictate where it needs to be a little bit but you kind of need to find a happy medium between having room for the steering column, having room for the booster, clearing the gas pedal, clearing the ignition switch, etc. |

I finished the mount, got it tacked up, and bolted everything else on to make sure I brought out enough but not too far for clearance. It came out perfect! Now I just need to finish welding it up. I'm very happy with how it has come out so far.

I finished up the brake assembly today. I had the modify the stock dash/steering column support. Everything is all painted and ready to go. My new Lokar shifter is here too. After looking at my nasty steering column and trying to figure out how to make it look good, I ended up saying screw it, called up Justin at Scotts Hotrods, and ordered a new Ididit tilt column with the billet firewall mount.
Tomorrow I'm going to work on brake lines and putting the dash back together. |
Re: 72 Suburban Build
