Re: 61K10 build
I just took out the orig. firewall pad in my cab and it was a thin cardboard material on one side and 1/4" insulation on the other. That rubber looks good & looks like it might be sturdier than the original stuff. Was it insulated on the inside portion?
Everything looks good! Keep at it. What's that green wire going thru your vent for? |
Re: 61K10 build
Yeah the originals were not rubber....I have wondered if they were a decent upgrade. Mine are original and made from the same material as the gas tank cover with and insulation glued to the back side of them.

Re: 61K10 build
the new pad has the jute on the back. green wire is a ground for the fuse box and is just floating around. not tied down.

Just curious.....is this the new air freshner on top of the engine in the pic? Haha.....

Re: 61K10 build
Lookin Good as always, that sack looks vintage...
|
Re: 61K10 build
going to hang the air freshner on my gun rack lol.
the rubber firewall pad doesn't fit to well up top a little big. has a ripple or bubble. I guess you can't see it though. don't ever try to install the wiper motor by yourself lol. |
Re: 61K10 build
Awesome job on your truck. It is looking amazing. Keep up the great job. I know that you said it has its little things that you know are not perfect, but that makes it a truck that you will drive. You have done an excellent job, keep it up!

Re: 61K10 build
All the firewall covers I have seen are cardboard with jute on the back. Where did you get the one made of rubber?
|
Re: 61K10 build
Jason---got it from brothers--$59.95
Randy---chicken or turkey feed lol. thanks C@rut001 my heater doesn't blow out any air--spins like h#ll though and makes alot of air noise. wrong cage i believe, spins clockwise but cage is made for counter-clockwise. motor is sealed so can't reverse the wires. I modded the heater and just ck'ed if it spun. every time i try to save a nickle it bite's me you know where. |
Re: 61K10 build
i think i have a spare motor and cage sitting on the shelf if its a factory application. i can get a few pics for you. think its off a 64 if i remember right
|
Re: 61K10 build
parts book shows different motor for 60-63 and 64-72. so motor wont work for you, but cage wqs good for 60-72 if it helps any let me know and i can get it to you.

Re: 61K10 build
thanks 1963c10 for the offer. my motor is off a late model gm. don't remember the year. it spins on hi much faster than the stock one did. I had to cut the center out of the stock motor plate (because it has the mounting bracket) to the firewall. ordered another cage--we will see.

Re: 61K10 build
OK, just let me know. The cage is yours if you need it, just cover the shipping.

Re: 61K10 build
1963c-10--figured out my heater lol. the org eco heater spins counter clockwise--well my new setup was spinning clockwise thus not throwing out any air. will post up my new setup when working.

Re: 61K10 build
Cool, just glad you got it figured out.

Re: 61K10 build
Hey 61K10 any updates can't wait to see the doors back on and fenders and hood and bed Geesh sounds like a lot of work...

Re: 61K10 build
Kimble,
Your giving me lots a great info and ideas! Glad your leading the way in restore. Keep those pics coming. I like the wide swath path of your undercoating inside / out. Was the tintable undercoating not thought of till after? |
Re: 61K10 build
Mitch to be honest i didn't even thank about it. Had a wire semi melt in my wiring harness. hooked up the tach wrong. got that worked out with new wire. (it was just a short piece). will test it all on the bench before installing it this time lol!

Re: 61K10 build
Well I like it either way, and good to know that it'll cover right over the paint. Unless you scuffed it up before applying to the back of the cab? Melted wire huh. Well could of been worse, i guess. Did you go thru a whole gallon to do fenders and cab both?
|
Re: 61K10 build
I used a scotch bright (3M) pad before i shot the liner on the cab. the stuff sticks big time. I have one Qt left. the fenders i used an under coating kind more than a bed liner type. I thank i posted wrong saying sem as i used duplacolor spray can bed liner. seemed to stick well also. now the sem bedliner is2 part. you add a hardner to it.
got my heater fixed. used a blower motor and cage out of a 96 camaro. runs counter clockwise and does it blow! had to space it up a little as the cage is taller. do you have the eco in cab or under hood heater? |
Re: 61K10 build
I got the under hood heater (Deluxe) is what they called it. The data tag on mine reads - Comfort package 433M

Re: 61K10 build
I think, I'm gonna just use the bed liner for the underside of the fenders and all like you did too.
|
Re: 61K10 build
61K10 - your dash cluster is my favorite type (needles instead of tell-tell lights). Is it original or 3rd party (if so, from whom)?
