well i did say i would update with " look what i bought for my truck" so here you go! i bought some seats from a guy off craigslist for $100 and the driver seat is powered! they are just dirty not stained, they are in really good shape for there age, i'm thinking of recovering them or doing a mexican blanket or both! it will be a surprise to ya'll cause i'm not telling, lol!! the plastic on the sides of the seats are broke so i will have to go to the salvage yard to find some good ones

then i just got done sending payment for a complete 2-way air kit from boris_ way2lo2, its for my rear airbags!

anyways heres the picture of what i got and what i just ordered!

Too funny... was talking with the wife this weekend about what I envision for my seat as well.
Must be a wavelength thing.... LOL

Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70

thanks flips, they dont need to be recovered just cleaned! but i'm going with a grey- silver interior with blue accents and blue carpet so i was thinking of having the seats redone in custom grey to match better!

well mcmurphy, i think it most be a wavelength thing too, or we all think alot!

i plan on buying my carpet and wiring harness in the next couple weeks along with my some odds and ends!!

Hey Chad, post up a pic of your new seat next to some of the interior parts you painted, maybe just a good cleaning...

i'll do that tomorrow for you, along with the mexican blankets i bought, the blue on the blankets kind of match the blue of the stuff i painted! then maybe i could get some input as to what you guys think i should do or not do!

Yeah, the two blues actually clash (listen to me, I sound like a woman). A womans input may be valuable though, I will show this to my wife when she is feeling better (in bed with a flu or something), my guess is that she would pick a colour either from the mexican blanket, or one that would tie the blanket and your paint together.

Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70

thanks flips for the comment im going to order those valve covers like yours with the red and blue on them!

i did order my 8qt. oil pan, deep trans pan, timing cover, and lokar dip sticks! they will all be here sometime between this thursday and tuesday! after i get my high volume oil pump then i will pull the motor out and get the bottom half of the bolt-ons on! then i'll order the other half to finish with the motor!

im trying to buy as much stuff as the wife will let me buy since im getting all this overtime in, i got 7 more weeks of working 6 days, then we go back to working 5 days i think, lol! my dad works at the same place but different shift and he works 4-5 days a week and works the same amount of hours, but i get paid more, lol!!

i'll post pics when i get the stuff, i look into getting some custom seat covers and they would cost as much to have them recovered! (i did get a driver door skin, that i'm going to use on my passenger side from a forum member "nobby", thanks again for that!!)

i bought a 7qt. oil pan and gasket, matching pickup tube, deep trans pan and gasket, proform valve covers, hold down tabs, hold down bolts, two breathers, timing cover, high volume oil pump, hardened oil pump shaft, and a tailgate from a forum member!!

anyways on to the pictures right, lol!!

those are some sweet parts dig the valve covers

Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70

I was looking at that same set up on ebay Chad, with the valve covers and timing chain cover that matched. It is going to look sweet once you get some time to get it all on there !!

chad64chevy 06-10-2012 01:21 PM

Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70

thanks dino for checking out my build and commenting means alot coming from you!!

mcmurphy, i did order them from ebay but not as a set, and not from the same person! roush yates had the valve covers and i think he only has one set left from like 205, and then i ordered the timing cover from a guy and got it for 25 shipped! the oil pan was chevy orange and i scuffed it up with 60 grit and 120 then but some duplicolor cast coat aluminum on it still has some scuff marks but will take care of them and then clear coat it so it really will match the valve covers! right now it looks dull compared to the valve covers and timing cover!!

i'm hoping to paint my alternator case, steering pump, air gap intake and water pump cast iron this next weekend, but i have to wait for them to come in first! should start to get some of the parts tomorrow but its suppost to rain lightly for three days too! so i think i'll just wait til this weekend!! i added an 8'x8' deck and awning on to our 8'x8' deck we had so the wife can tan, lol! so i didnt order my wiring harness this month, looks like i'll get it next month! had to make the wife happy so i can buy more parts, lol!!

I totally hear you on one thing leading to another!
My biggest fear is that I will get ahead of myself on something, then have to dismantle it to do something I should have done prior....
I hate having to back track when it was not part of the plan.

Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70

mcmurphy, if you end up getting the valve covers and timing cover like mine and want to paint anything to match it! get rustoleum cast coat aluminum, its a better match with a pigment/ metallic look that looks really really close to the valve covers! its a better match then the duplicolor, in my opinion!!

i just repainted the oil pan with rustoleum cast coat aluminum, and i painted the alternator cast iron then clear coated the alternator, looks good to me! i'll post pictures later, going to let it dry a lil while i eat lunch!!

Awww man, when you get the truck all spiffy you should totally take it to that A&W and get a photo of it with the car jack tray on the window !!

And while you are there for father's day, have a rootbeer float for me !

Good to hear the Co. is busy, need to hear more of that from the beleaguered US of A. All of you guys have had a rough go the last few years. We have been pretty fortunate up here in the land of hockey and plaid dinner jackets. A tough go in late 08 to mid 09 up here, but a pretty good economy outside of that. I won't buy a foreign car again myself, we have to do what we can to help each other.

Very nice assortment of parts you're collecting. I really like the valve and timing covers. 7 days a week is rough, but a good problem to have in this economy.

flips the bbq/fireworks is on the fourth, you coming?? i'll save you a plate if you are, lol!!

Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70

well, i havent posted in my thread for awhile! anyways i dont have a real update, as far as the truck gos! i'm not getting the air compressor from my uncle, my other uncle wants it and since i really dont have a place to putting it other then my storage! i told him that he come get it and i would just get the wleder from him, i be getting the welder from him friday if he is home!

i have just been working alot lately, had to work 12hrs. on the fourth, got to love double time! forum member "oklahomaduner" has a c50/c60 grille that i have been wanting to get for my truck for awhile now! so i'll be able to keep my dent free aluminum grille, i've thought about saleing it a few times but didnt know what its really worth! i'll be getting the grille from him in a week or two, i'll have to work it into my work schdule to go get it from him! i may just send hime the moneyu and see if i can get him to ship it to me! we'll see, anyways i'll have a real update in a week or two, i have been doing some painting of small parts like the rest of the heater box, buying a few small parts to finish some of the other things i have started but jumped to something else, you guys know how it is when you get tired of one thing and move on! i'm not gone, just working alot lately!!

well its been awhile, since i have done anything but i do have a small update!!

i got the hobart 140 welder from my uncle since i was really the only one that has used it! and its still on its first spool of wire, so its like new!! not bad for $400 for the welder, argon tank, about half what he paid for it all new! i still got to go get the rest of the stuff like gloves, jacket, helmet, cutters, etc. all which is still new!

i also got a set of cab trim sail clips! not to sure if i want to take the time to remake a few set of these or not, they real only have a slight bend in them and can be made out of 16ga.! i got a 18" metal brake bender that i could use to make them! i think i might try to make them atleast one set , just to see if i can!!

anyways thats it for now, next i'll be getting a few parts from some forum members, like 'oklahomaduner' that has a c50/c60 grille to make a grille like this one or just leave the bowtie to be different, either way it will still get painted silver like all the trim pieces i'll be painting! i'll also be getting some fiberglass front fenders from 'hop sing' I'm wondering how the fiberglass fenders will fit does anyone know??

Nice little welder! with a tank & regulator too?
I don't know how tank rental works where you are, but you may need to get it switched to your name for refill.
Pretty sweet deal!
You should be able to do some real damage with that!

thanks Modges, it came with a 80 cu. ft. tank 3/4 full, i dont have to worry about tank refills at all just take it in!

i got the 60 gal. puma air compressor for $350 from my uncle used about ten times, 3.2 h.p, 150 max psi, it will get put to work when i get a 4'x4' slab poured for it!! i thinking of building a storage building just for it, so its some what protected! anyways heres some pictures! sorry about the last picture my hand was shaking
