I'll get a pic of the cv angles soon. I never looked at them. Just assume they are good when you're a mechanic

Good looking truck dirtybird1 - I had a 95 GMC Yukon that had a little tire rub so I cranked up the torsion bars to gain I'm guessing about 1 1/2" of lift - that ended up eating my lower ball joints after about 2 -3 years of driving so keep that in mind.

Here's a pic of the 95, but I'm sure that is before cranking the torsion bars.

It's funny you say that Yukon. Earlier today a friend was checking out my front end and noticed that my driver-side ball joint was looking "weak". I've had mine cranked about an inch for the last 6 months or so, and I'm finally getting them aligned Thursday. I wonder if it's related.

By the way dirtybird, great additional pics. I may have to crank my TB's some more and toss some blocks under the back end now.

Re: Post "Your" 4x4 pic here..........

Thanks guys!!!! :metal: I get ALOT of compliments on it which I love cause there really isnt much done to it. Just some good parts choice I think. :bling: The 2-3 years of ball joints doesnt really bother me considering the truck gets 13 mpg :( so she only gets driven after work and on the weekends. So a tank lasts a week or two depending on where I go. I'll try and remember to get cv angles soon.

Lookin' forward to those CV angle pics dirty.

Southe, I want your truck. Looks very nice man. That a one-ton? What's your lift on that thing?

LuckyLightning 09-20-2007 02:40 AM

Re: Post "Your" 4x4 pic here..........

Oh yeah, dirty - did you replace your shocks when you did the "lift"? If so, did you get stock shocks or shocks for lifts?

I did not replace shocks. I dont take my truck off road as you can tell. I was going to go off roading, in the sand dunes Labor Day weekend but while we were just getting into it, we got a call the outhouse was on fire and had to go back to camp
SO. I dont think that they are going to be a problem off road.... I did notice some 'head bob' while towing a trailer unloaded, but that is rare so I can deal with that. Looks>small ride quality

Rons Flying Toilet Alky Injection, Works GREAT!, I'll never go back to carb again. A barrel of booze costs 106.00 compaired to 800 something for VP.

Re: Post "Your" 4x4 pic here..........

out here in holland we pay i believe 20 percent alcotax and 19 percent normal tax on top of the price i think it depens on the amount of alcohol there is in the beverage and 100 % pure alco it isnt available in large quantities only in modelstores mixed with nitrous for modelcars and planes last time i checked it was 3 times the price of normal fuel .
the injection system looks interesting though i like to learn more about it
does it work like stationairy/full trottle or is it more docile than that

hilbilly 09-21-2007 03:35 PM

Re: Post "Your" 4x4 pic here..........

It's pretty forgiving. I can drive around the the pits with no problem. Would'nt think it be all that good for street use. It likes to load up when idling or low rpm because is mechanical. I think the "model" fuel you are speaking of is nitromethaine, I run methanol in this system.

Re: Post "Your" 4x4 pic here..........

Thanks dirty. They look a little questionable (parallel to the ground is best) but not extremely concerning since you don't do any serious off-roading. I think as long as you got an alignment after your crank, you should be good.

I really wanted to do this as well but since I've already cranked 1 inch just to get it leveled out, I'm worried trying to go another 2 inches (after the blocks, gonna need to keep it leveld) my lower ball joints will cry and break apart on me. Going just one more inch might be safer, but I doubt it'll really be worth it.

Thanks again for all the pics, you really got me thinking about what else I can (and want) to do with my truck.

That's awesome stellarmishap. I see you have the bed installed higher than the cab and front clip to get the wheel wells even. Did you have to do anything else to the frame or the body to get it all together?

stellarmishap 10-14-2007 02:08 PM

Re: Post "Your" 4x4 pic here..........

Thanks, guys!
The frame had to be lengthened a foot, otherwise went pretty easy, considering.
