Today, I finshed te firewall. It came out ok There is still a little to work out. I am going to let my brother-in-law do the fine tuning on the body work.
I als mounted the cab on my 1972 frame. I will be making it a rollin chassis. It will be easier to move around. And also to mount the painted cab on my 67 frame. Roll it out and roll the 67 frame under the cab. |

What part of the truck or location did it come off of? I would guess that Xeen might know. He has a lot more knowledge on '68 than me. |

Today, I took a load of metal I removed from the 1972 frame to the salvage yard. It was looking a bit like a junk yard with parts here and metal there. So now I can move around and the boys are not playing with sharp and rusty parts. also started to clean up the A frames to go back on the 72 frame. It looks like I have two projects going on.

and here is the picture of both frames. The one on the left is my working frame in progress.

Re: 1968
I mounted the cab on the 72 frame so I could work on it and not get the 68 frame scratched or mess up. Not like the dust is not going to get on it. I think I could have my good frame in my neighbor's yard and it would get the dust from my sanding and grinding.
|
Re: 1968
who knows i just might make me another project after I get the 68 done.

I have a question about getting a tital for a 67. Is there any thing to this story. I was told I could get a builders tital. Just wanted to know before I start in on building my 67.
I have atital for my 68. But I would like to build another one. This time a 67 when i am finshed with the 68 |
Re: 1968
TodayI moved the nginehoist that I builted. out of 4x6x10. So I could put the floor on my work area. I got my list of the parts I am going to get and I will be going south to St. Petersburg Fl.

Today, I recieved some parts so I installed them in the rear end. A powerbuilt bearing puller for the axle bearings in the rear end.

Re: 1968

So, I installed seals in the rear axles and new gasket in the cover for the punkin. So as far as the rear end is concerned it is all done except for the brakes.
|
Re: 1968
I don't have a press to press my lower ball jointsin. So I took them over to a friends house and he is going to install them with his press. So tomorrow I will have a rolling chassis again. except for the brakes.

:waah:There is no place for me to buy sand for my sand blaster in our county So this is what I have to do.
First, I have to dry it. I put a black piece of pond liner down and spread the sand out. Second, I have to sift the sand in my home made sifter. There is sall rocks that plugs up my sand blaster. Third, I leave it in my storage can for a few days to make sure all the moisture is out of the sand. It is a lot to go thru but I have no choice. I guess I could buy from a company and have it shipped in. But that would cost three time the amount of the sand.:waah: |

Tomorrow I am planing on installing the upper and lower ball joints and the drag links on the front cross member. The yoke in the rear end I have to replace it with another one that I have on hand. along with a new seal. If it wasn't for the seal I would just buy come longer u bolts for the universal joint.
A picture of the rear end all put back together. |
Re: 1968
Everything is time consuming, but all I have to do is work on my truck. I am retired and I hate to set around and do nothing. Doing the sand thing is saving me a ton of money.

Re: 1968

Man later on when you are done sandblasting you are going to have to rent a yard vacuum to get all that sand pulled up so grass can grow again. Are you going to buy a 2/4 drop spring kit for your truck? |
