reaper71, I have wondered where you have been. Glad you are working on something. Did you do anything to your truck? You will have to post a picture of it though.
Chevrolado, Thank you. I have not done anything on it for a while. My buddy(owner) is working on it , but I will be doing some things on it from time to time so I will post when I do. Shannon |

yes it will be a full ground up for the guy some stock looking components and a little custom touches, such as removing the drip rails smoothing the firewall, adding led Cadi. lights fuel injected motor and of course the lowered suspension...

Re: 1948 Chevy / S10
Xpickup your fab work is awesome. I'm glad you have posted so much of your fab work. It helps me execute some of the forming I am trying to do. I am self-taught and do a lot a reading from guys like you to better myself and my skills so keep up the good work.

Re: 1948 Chevy / S10
wickid demon, Thank you. I am also self taught. The internet and youtube are great sources. I am always happy to show/answer how I do things. And it is great if someone can learn from me. It is a great forum and there are a lot of great people on here.

Selfbuiltrods, thank you
We'll it has been a while since I have done anything on this truck. Billy is working on the body work now on his truck. I put the power windows in his doors this weekend and fixed some rust holes that were under the window molding. I also had to rebuild the rear fender corner because it was messed up. So here are some pictures. Shannon |

Re: 1948 Chevy / S10
looking good as always, glad to see you back on it. what the plan with covering the door back up? keep stock look or just sheet it and upholster it?
|
Re: 1948 Chevy / S10
99 to life, I am sure it will get some sort of custom door panel over the opening.I always like to cut a large opening in the door when I put power windows in. Billy cut the opening in for me and then boxed it in with 1/2 x 1/2 box tube. Makes it 10x easier to work in the doors rather then small hole.

Re: 1948 Chevy / S10
Shannon, nice work, the large holes makes it soooooo much easier....Jim

Re: 1948 Chevy / S10
Nice truck, can't wait to see more!

Re: 1948 Chevy / S10
oldman3, yes, tell me about it. I do it to make it the easiest. Plus you can clean the inside of the door also.
slydogg76, It will be nice once it is all done. It is a friend of mine, I will try to post some more as he does what he is doing. I did a good bit of fab work on it and he is finishing it. Shannon |
Re: 1948 Chevy / S10

Re: 1948 Chevy / S10
Anybody have pictures of door panels that cover that larger opening? I would like to see that before I cut the opening to install power windows in my 1952 GMC. I'm working on the bed now but power windows will be soon or at least this winter. Thanks :gmc2:

Not cheap but made very good and you dont need to cut the door up to install them. Just another option. Marc |
Re: 1948 Chevy / S10
Hi Guys, Been super crazy since May so I have not been on. My mother decided to leave my father and have been dealing with that. I have seen him more in the past couple months than I have my married life which is a good thing. Then my mother in law has been in the hospital a lot and now is in a home. So the whole summer/fall have been draining as hell. Then the tranny on my lowered dually went out. Took to a tranny shop because of a warranty and they fixed it and busted up my passenger side widened rear fender so that has to be reglassed. Messed up the exhaust and cracked the cap while it was there. I now know why I do my own work!
I did get the dog truck and the wash tank done and some panels put in Ken's 1965 Mustang fastback. He dropped that off when he picked up the dog truck. He picked it up on Sunday and I just pulled the panel truck in to finally get the side glass and a few other things done. So bare with me and I will post on my build. I will try to get on a little more, just been crazy/draining lately. Shannon |
Re: 1948 Chevy / S10
Shannon, life has a way of throwing things at us that we just have to deal with. Understand how it has been for you, hope everything smooths out...Jim
