Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!
Tim, you might want to keep a watch out for Monroe, I heard he's hoarding up cracked corn and secretly making "corn whiskey"

Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!
He is lucky that it was as only a little "chicken scratch."

I am watching him and I hope even the chicken scratch was lesson enough for him to walk the straight and narrow.
I bought a new 7-pin and he helped me connect the wiring. I never could have done it without his little bird brain. My hand doesn't fit, due to the hitch braces and spare tire Attachment 1559743 He did great on that, so I gave him some free time to skateboard. He sure can do some awesome tricks! Attachment 1559744 Then it was back to his assigned area, the hubcaps. Attachment 1559745 |

He wanted to know the story behind the blown out tire
Attachment 1559776 I told him and he said it was a shame. He's a funny little cuss. Look what he did when I wasn't looking Attachment 1559759 |
Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!
Geeze you have a lot of cool stuff for sale.

Stuff I'd love to keep! Sold some and got to keep others. I feel ok about both. I didn't sell the slots, but a guy paid for and will be picking up the 3 good tires tomorrow... Go figure.
Well, all good things must come to an end and Carlisle Trucks is no exception. Monroe was helpful in packing and loves to play t it. Nothing wrong with enjoying your work! |

We hit the road about dinner time and the sun was about to set as we rolled down through my valley. Kinda symbolic, I think. He seemed to be reflecting on his experience t Carlisle. More pictures at home later. Gotta go now.

Monroe is the one with a great sense of humor. He hops up on the hood and cackles out, "GMC. Grown Man's Chicken! Cock-a-doodle-do!!" Cracks me up!
Attachment 1560022 Well, we were both plumb tuckered out and hit the hay early. Monday I decided, as I usually do, to take a decompression day and do some unloading. I told Chick Magnet the tarps all go in the spare cab and next thing I knew he was there waiting to take them from me Attachment 1560025 Next it was stuff totes in the lean-to and, yep, there he was waitin' on me Attachment 1560023 There were somethings that went in the barn and there he was wondering what the hold up was Attachment 1560024 |

With his help we got done in short time. While at the show I got a call my tool I had in for repair was ready, so I used the spare time for us to run on up to Hemp's and take care of picking that up. I was telling him how it was an old family business started in 1946 run by husband and wife and that the ole dog of theirs was always lazin' around behind the counter. He said, if it was alright, he'd prefer to just stay out in the truck
Attachment 1560033 That took up the rest of the time we had before dropping him off at the bus station. He didn't say exactly where he was headed, but he had mentioned something about while he really liked it back east, he was missing the west. I have a sneaky suspicion somewhere west of the Mississippi will be the next place we see him pop up, I'm gonna miss that sawed off little sumbugger. |
Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!
Tim he had a good time with you. I'm hoping the next stop is good as well.

Thanks Dale. I'm going to adopt my own rubber chicken after this time with Monroe and would like to suggest others do the same. There are many waiting to find homes. But, if you go to a rescue, be careful. These birds are very eager
I'm sure his next stop will be a great one. I'm not saying where that will be. I'll just say you "will" enjoy what's next. But then, all stops are great, aren't they? |

On our way to Carlisle Monroe spotted a tractor hauling a load of his feathered friends, he quickly jumped to the dash and let out a loud crow as if to say it will be alright.

Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!
At Carlisle Trucks I kept explaining to people what was up with this whole rubber chicken thing. "If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand". No, actually I told them the deal and they kinda sorta said that was cool... I think? I don't embarrass easy. It was fun!

Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!
Its a lot of fun following Monroe around the country .
|
Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!
Last time with Bonni he went all around the globe. Was difficult at times but in the end it was pretty cool.
This time I wanted to be more restricted, but the trip to Carlyle showed me I need to just let it rip and what happens happens. They all did a great job. I think as time goes by with this and Monroe gets in a groove we should go ahead and open it up to any one that wants to participate, no matter where they are on the planet. I just hate it when he disappears for a month at a time and its not the fault of the post office, ups, or fedex. |
Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!
Yeah, it's ok if they screw it up...NOT!
Rollin' rollin' rollin'. Keep that chicken rollin'. Feath-ERS!! |

Way behind schedule. I 90 eastbound was closed do to bad accident . Chose to go south to Portland and then head east. Worst traffic ever going south. Little over 200 miles in 4.5 hours. Took a rest stop and grabbed a picture, Mt St Helens!
Ok back on the road, about 700 miles, probably straight through with a few stretch stops. |

Ok next stop Pendalton Oregon on E84 |
Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!
That oughta plump him up to roastin' weight. Not that we'd want that. Just the only measure I know when talkin' chicken. I'd say fightin' weight, since there is such a sport, but he'll be too plump for that. Better do some extra leg stretchin' next stop!
Hmmm... going mostly eastern, a bit south, 700 miles, 1 + 1 = 2.... nope, don't have a clue  Nice to see an old friend again. Hey Monroe, say hello to your dad for me. This is Special-K, or Tim from Maryland. I hope he remembers me. I know he meet a lot of members on his odyssey. |
Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!

Probably won't see pops again he will be out visiting all his old buds |
Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!
Alright! Bonneville!! Your daddy's namesake. It would be cool if one, the other, or both could go on a run. How historic would that be if the run made a record. They could add fastest rubber chicken co-pilot on top onto the class record. I'm glad CG made it, too. From what I understand the last two years were cancelled. So this must be a very special time this year what with it being three years and accompanied by father and son rubber chickens. This is your first time, right Monroe?
