Re: Daverods 52
That's BS, Dave are you gonna raise up your gas tank so it wont drag? Also from the eye hole of the bushing, how far back is the lower bag plate?
|
Re: Daverods 52
9 7/8 to the center of the bag plate.:ito:
|
Re: Daverods 52
If the 700r4 doesn't work out let me know, I have 3 of them laying around. They "ran when pulled" but they will NEED a rebuild.:haha:

Re: Daverods 52
Fun man.;) Thats what I'm thinking about this one. For now I just want it to get everything where it needs to be. The cores gotta be worth 100? Who knows it might work.

Re: Daverods 52
dave, i hate to be the barer of bad news, but that bag kit isnt going to work well for you.
the bags are not centered over the bars... by having them off to the side, it puts a "twist" into the bars. you're only going to get a few thousand miles before you need new bushings on the lower control arms.. the twisting makes them prematurely wear. if you overload the truck, and drive it like that, you can even twist the arms. I really wish jackasses would stop selling people kits like that... they NEVER work out well, and it ends up costing people money. if you modify it so the bag is directly over the bar (meaning you'll have to sink a bag mount into your frame) it will work great... not hard, but you shouldnt be forced to modify a kit like that. in anycase, it needs to be fixed.. atleast you didnt weld the upper bag brackets on yet. |

Re: Daverods 52
Thanks for your input Dude. We'll see.:smoke: I kinda knew that. For everyone that says they suck there's someone else says they have them and have no problem? I'm going with it the way it is.:sumo: Maybe?:lol: Just remember to tell me "I told you so" if I ever have any problems with it. I do like how they put the bag in the frame. It's hard for me to see how that arm can twist very much. It's hooked to the axle on one end, the bag mount is'nt very far from the other end? I'll never carry any weight. I'm sure I'll get bored one of these days and go buy some 5"? metal pipe.:smoke:

If I center the bag I would remove the crossmember? Maybe these bags are just really big (firestone). Going to be some big pipe. Would the bag stay in the same spot?:smoke:

Re: Daverods 52
where did you steal those pics from. I've talked to people say that the kit you have twist. But then i've talked to people that are running them on their s10 say they haven't had any problems out of it. I really like the set up from those pics. I've got all the stuff to run it like that. Send me a link to the thread.

Re: Daverods 52
After really looking at that set up from the pics. It doesn't have a notch in it. And also I think he's gonna have problems running the stock tank because of how far the bags stick out.
|
Re: Daverods 52
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=398605 Ya who knows about the twist thing. I've read a lot of stuff about it. I've yet to hear someone who had the set up say it did'nt work. Lots of hate out there.:lol:

Re: Daverods 52
Here is a link to something you can do
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=387472 I am sure we all know Yaril's work on here. I really like this set up and he seems to bag everything, so I am sure this would work out well. Not sure if the stock tank will fit with the bags on the inside, I believe I asked him before and he said it fits. but anyway, by the looks of it, you can just mount the bags on the inside with little mods. But inside or outside, is that going to be inferior to centered under the frame? I also like the pics you found. |

Finished welding my notches. Guess I need to put my bed on so I can figure out how short I need to cut my frame. I'm pretty sure it's to long. These rims I have suck the offset is wrong they don't fit on the front and they hit my bags in the rear.:uhmk: errr.
|
Re: Daverods 52
That sucks about your bags. I would also tell you if your gonna run those bags have plenty of room, because they will ballon. Or go with a slam bag.
|
Re: Daverods 52
I think its just because of my rims. off set rims maybe alittle smaller tire it will be ok
|
Re: Daverods 52
Just move the lower mount to move the bag forward. Then weld on the upper bag mount to match it. Or get a smaller tire :uhmk:
|
Re: Daverods 52
Cut my frame from 122 to 116. Just cut 6 out of it at the factory seam.:uhmk: Ordered some rear bags and some cross members for my bed. My old cross members looked like I could have used them for a bow. Also ordered a cam and some push rods for my engine. Went to the junk yard and walked around in the mud looking for some rims.:waah:

Re: Daverods 52
I have 4 Centerline look a like 15" rims for sale. They need cleaning up & polishing. They are 5x4 3/4 bolt pattern, and will fit the S-10 bolt pattern. 150 bucks and you arrange pick up from the Brown Truck. I just sold those 8 lug wheels I had. I shrink wrapped them in pairs. And UPS came and picked them up. I'll have to have the tires taken off and buy more shrink wrap. That's why I'm asking $150. Let me know if your interested.

thats how i mounted my bags, won't get as much lift as being on the bar. It just gets them out of the way for the wheels and tank |

could be their wishbone and upper crossmember, but I cant tell for sure. everyone makes similar looking stuff... the SD (and other) 5 links have a second set of lower bars with the bags on those bars. |
Re: Daverods 52
SD has a 5 link built just like this. If you look at the lower tabs on the axle is has bolt holes in it. That's where the lower bars for the rear would bolt to and go back to the rear of the frame and bold again. Seems like the bag is too far away from the axle to be a BOA set up.

Re: Daverods 52

http://*******************/bag-bracke...der-axle-lower you can see that hole you're talking about right on there too. i have also seen guys running their own custom lower links into these brackets, but still, its a bag over/under axle setup.. not a 5 link. |
Re: Daverods 52
Ok I see it now. I've thought about doing mine like that before, but wasn't sure about the ride since it's a BOA set up. Then I've thought about building it like the SD 5 link that's set up like that but with lower bars. I'm just not sure what I'm going to do. I was gonna run it like the extensive set up with bag offset, but after I talked to Jason (SD). he told me about the twisting. I've talked to other people that have that set up and said they dont have any problem with it.

Re: Daverods 52
Hey guys this is the ultimate system for S-10's. At $1075.00 it's a bargain with no guessing. I installed lots of them. Great ride and lots of lift. And bolt on.
Here's all of them. http://www.kplinks.com/home.php?cat=50 This is the S-10 one for $1075.00 http://www.kplinks.com/images/P/4CBO-S11_AT.jpg |

Re: Daverods 52
Must have been when I was doing my 66. The difference between the kit I put on my 66 and this kit are huge. Just in the size difference. Still looking for some rims. I just want somthing that will work for now. The stuff I have now is the right height 29" I just need to find some rims with a 0 off set and 4 75 spacing? All the junk yards just list the rims by make and model.
|
Re: Daverods 52
yeah the KP kit is alright. SD also has a nice kit around the same price.
|
Re: Daverods 52
I guess for the price I paid I got what I wanted. I wanted cheap, dirty and easy. I need to get my bed on so I can see what kinda rims I need. Mounted the bags and made it go up and down. Bags clear by about a 1/2". Put my cam in my engine and blasted and painted my oil pan.

Re: Daverods 52
I'm thinking the saddles weld to the axle? Still need to mount my panhard bar. Not going to do to much till I get my bed and cab back on.
|
Re: Daverods 52
I would weld them. That way your axle cant twist in the u-bolts.
|
Re: Daverods 52
Mine was a 3 link kit from *****************, with bag behind and under brackets. Basically bag over axel. The bags are just out of the way. I really like suicidedoors kits, hey just take too damn long to make. 4-6 weeks is the wait time. If your in no hurry they are nice. If you don't plan on using the s10 gas tank i would go with a universal 4 link. All forward facing. I wouldn't go 2 link unless i had to. They are cheap and easy and may work, but they do mess with the pinion angle. If you ntice all the cover trucks and the trucks that have those never get driven. So they don't even know if its reliable or not.
|
Re: Daverods 52
KP's Triangle 4 link for s-10 works perfect on a s-10 frame.
$599.00 and you put your bags over the axle. http://www.kplinks.com/images/P/4LBO-S11_ID.jpg |
Re: Daverods 52
I guess it all depends what you want to do. I don't think the pinion angle will effect me much. I'm going to set it up for my ride height. I'lll always be at that height or on the ground. I had to wait 4 weeks for this kit. That seems to be the norm.:ito: I'll put this one to test because I'm going to drive it a lot. If it sucks or breaks I'll change it. If once a year I have to put new bushings in the arms no biggie.
