Also, looks like Autozone udated their webpage and this is why you need to go get yard parts. I have recieved full calipers with the mounting plate from parts stores and I have also got with the same part number just a caliper. http://www.autozone.com/brakes-and-t...p-5-7l-sfi-ohv Here is what you are looking for from a parts store for a complete assembly with mounting bracket. http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo....035908&jsn=682 This one has the park brake mounting bracket (preferred one to get). Big spring is a pain in the rear to get on if you have to move it. http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo....035908&jsn=692 Smitty |
Re: Camaro Caliper Brackets
Will calipers on a firebird or trans am from the same period work as well? I figure they are basically the same car under the skin.

I purchased a set of beat calipers and e-brake cables on ebay for $60 and then sprung for the Centric reman calipers. They have a $75 each core but are $55 each after core return.
One caliper came fully loaded but the other was missing the vibration damper and was deformed by the piston seal so I'm exchanging it. They aren't listed as including the damper so I may have just gotten lucky. |

Re: Camaro Caliper Brackets
This really isn't the place to be asking this question, in my for sale thread. You should post your questions in the '67-'72 section or the Suspension section.

Re: Camaro Caliper Brackets
Are the '97 Camaro calipers low drag? I ran across a site stating that they are, and that they require a step-bore master cylinder to operate correctly:
http://www.manualbrakes.com/FAQs.html I'm not sure if it's required with front calipers that are not low drag, and this might apply specifically to non-boosted applications. I'm also not sure if only the front calipers were low drag and I have found any info either way. |

Captainfab:
Been looking at your posts and am interested to know do you have a set of brackets to fit a 1999 Tahoe it is four wheel drive. If so what do you do about wheel sensor stuff? I am thinking this vehicle has rear wheel sensors. Maybe you can shed some light on that? If I install rear discs I am thinking I will also have to change master cylinder right? So I I have to change master cylinder will that screw with the anti-locks? If you could describe what all I would have to change that would help a lot. Looking to improve braking power for when I tow stuff. Thanks in advance Toolguy2 |
Re: Camaro Caliper Brackets
Sorry but I still do not have any rear disc brackets for the '88-'98 differentials. I am still working 80 hrs a week every week and that is not enough. Additionally there are 3 different differentials used in the '88-'98 years in the C/K 1500's

Re: Camaro Caliper Brackets
Captainfab,
I'm interested in the Camaro brackets, but I would like to know if you have made the 93-97 caliper e-brake bracket or know where I can get them from? Jose's_69_C10:chevy: |
Re: Camaro Caliper Brackets
Sorry but I do not know what you mean by "93-97 caliper e-brake bracket"

Captainfab,
I attached a picture of the bracket. I've gone to the local auto parts stores and they sell the calipers without the bracket. Just wanted to know if you make the brackets or how others are getting the brackets to make the emergency brake feature work. Jose's_69_C10:chevy: |
Re: Camaro Caliper Brackets
No I do not currently make that bracket.
|
Re: Camaro Caliper Brackets
Captainfab,
Do you know how others that have purchased your Camaro bracket made the e-brake work? Just trying to research before I buy your bracket. I live in Texas and I need the e-brake to work in order to pass State inspections. :chevy: |
Re: Camaro Caliper Brackets
Customers don't tell me much after the sale. I just assumed they are either purchasing used calipers with all the brackets or they come with the reman calipers. Have you checked online for the calipers? I prefer to buy local too, but sometimes it doesn't workout for what you need.

Re: Camaro Caliper Brackets
Centric calipers come with the brackets, I purchased mine via RockAuto

Re: Camaro Caliper Brackets
Hay Captainfab, are you making a disc brake conversion kit for an 8 lug Dana 60 with e-brakes? If so, how much is the kit? Thanks
|
Re: Camaro Caliper Brackets
No I do not make any rear disc brackets for a 8 lug Dana 60. The Dana 60's are a little difficult to make disc brake brackets for. There are at least 6 different backing plate flanges, depending on the year of the differential and whether it was originally installed under a GM, Ford or Dodge.

I was wondering who that payment was from since the payment was not from you or your name was not with it anywhere. Your Camaro brackets are at the powder coaters.

Oops sorry I always forget that that acct has a old buisness name attached to it. I should have put my name in the comment area. Thank you for keeping me in mind as my project is starting to come together and starting to be reassembled, 3 years of work just to give the truck away. But it will be a awesome truck when complete. Thanks captain fab

Re: Camaro Caliper Brackets
Captainfab,
Are you still selling the Camaro brackets and if you are how much are they going for shipped to 78574? |
Re: Camaro Caliper Brackets
Yes I still make the Camaro caliper brackets. However I am currently out of them. I have more parts being laser cut, but I am not sure if I will receive them tomorrow or Monday. The price is exactly the same as in post #1.
