Could you take pictures from behind once you get the bed back on and the bumper on? I really like the summit tank and price but don't want it hanging too low....

Yep, just moved them to the side. I understand they work longer and better if they are mounted upright. I mounted them there so they can be seen through the rims, just a little. IMO that is what makes people look twice, when they see something out of the ordinary kinda hidden.

Posolutely, Absotively. Should be putting the bed back on in a week or two and can then install the rear scraper.....ummm I mean bumper. It is about 4 1/2 to 5 inches off the ground when airred out and the bed on. But hey.......that's plenty of room when it's just sittin at a show!

Score!!!! Got a new part today!! It is a true 72 Chevy truck column, completely rebuilt, chromed, with billit arms and knobs!! He was aware of my disposition with the parts trade with a so called used parts guy so he gave me a deal on it. I gave him a POS van column and $325. He had 3 now he has 2 for the low price of $625 ea. A little better than the $730 plus shipping that Flaming River or Ididit is charging for an aftermarket product!:metal:

Nice build ! Just read thru it , you mentioned earlier in the thread about moving the front susp x-member forward one inch I might have missed something along the way but could you (or anyone) elaborate some on this and does it create any side issues? Thanks

Thanks for checkin it out! I did alot of research and it is possible and has been done, but it is alot of work for gaining 1 1/4 inches. It does not pose any issues that I have found other than time consuming. After looking into it, the cheaper way is to either get tubular arms top and bottom or is you are using stock parts you can use more alignment shims in the back on the upper control arm and it will push it forward about an inch and still maintain alignment.

Updates with pics!! The weather was nice this weekend, well some of the weekend. Had a chance to get over to the shop and do a few things. Had fun bending brake lines for the rearend and up the frame channel, wasn't as fun as I thought it would be. Got some sound proofing/insulation stuff and installed that in the cab, that actually was fun to do. Easiest thing I have done on the project thus far. Here are the mandatory pictures to prove that the work was actually done.

The brake lines had to be run a little different from stock, but it came out ok. I think it is made by Insul-Tek, it is heavy and made a huge difference when I bumped the back of the cab with my fist or closed the door. Sounds solid, and I have not put any in the doors yet.

Hahahha.....kinda, I just flipped the stock ones upside down and cut them to fit the trailing arm. It's back a couple of pages in my thread. 1980 model Corvette shocks work well!

I appreciate that! O'Reilly! It was steel lines. They have multiple lengths and diameters in stock so I was able to use 3/16 on the rear and 5/16 tubing from the rear hose to the front. Outback Truck parts has a kit but I have been waiting for them to get it in.......and got tired of waiting.

Do it! For the price it is worth it to have new lines. Plus having that feeling of accomplishment......only when it does come out right!

I hear ya! Got my side mouldings in last night, gotta get a pic to prove it of course. Going to work on it after noon today, my paint and body guy is there now fixing a couple of things on the paint and getting my breather cover and valve covers ready for paint too. Feels good to be making progress when I am not even there!!! Will be starting to install my fuel neck today also.

Well, the great Southern weather is not cooperating so 2 weekends without much progress. I will keep the posts and pics coming as the project progresses. Thanks for looking!:smoke:

how much did you move it up to center it and how? Did you use two bolts instead of all three? I have n sheet metal on my frame, had to go to frame shop so now would be the best time to deal with it. thanks

I decided against moving the Xmember forward, it is more simple to shim the rear of the top a-arm and gain about 1 inch instead of going through all of the work and time of moving the Xmember forward to gain 1.25 inches. Also, tubular a-arms correct the geometry some too.
