Great work, and thanks for posting pics of the shroud! That's awesome! Did you cover the fabric with wax paper before applying resin? What kind of fabric was it, do you remember? I'm going to have to try this on my conversions. Great idea! By the way, your cab is looking awesome!

Thanks DW, my son pretty much followed the steps outlined in this link...

Pics of today's progress, my boy and our paint/body buddy have been busting @%# trying to get the cab done (into primer) so we can bring it home for a few months (body mounts and cage work) before returning for final paint. :metal:

I don't know, maybe I didn't see it mentioned but isn't that a 60-62 dash and then 64-66 door style??? What a beautiful fabrication job!

Thanks Dino, that dolly is gonna really be invaluable as we move it from shop to shop to work out body mounts, the cage, and then back to paint.

Thanks, appreciate that...and yes, you are correct on the dash swap. We both really preferred the symmetry of the double hump, and the cut-outs on each side will accommodate the a-pillar down tubes of the cage.

Thanks y'all, it means the world to me to be able to share this passion with my son (and family).

My boy worked with our paint/body buddy/guru, Dennis, again today to get the cab roughed in and under a coat of primer so we can bring it home for a couple months while he undergoes/recovers from a bit of spinal surgery.

Re: Project '66 Dirtrod: K-30 Extended Cab

Thanks again guys!

The bottom of the cab has been under coated and we sprayed a few coats of primer onto it for now. All the extension is done on the outside, but we still have the inside panels to do, along with fixing a few dings and smoothing down the exterior.

Thanks guys, it's nice seeing this part come together...lot's left to do though.

My boy brought it home today. We'll work out the cage details at a buddy's shop over the next few weeks (months?), get the body mounts done, and reassemble the front clip (probably a few times), work out the bed details, basically have to finish the rest of the truck before disassembling for final bodywork and paint.
We'll paint it out in pieces and eventually reassemble...shouldn't take but another couple years:lol::lol:

Few pics of it in the sunlight...it's been about 2 1/2 years since it was last outside. :metal:

We will be having a window cut from smoked glass and glued in on the same plane that the front windows will rest on.

Where did you find those? I have not seen that kit before that I know of. I will be curious to see how the install goes.

I've said it on Pirate and I'll say it here too, awesome work, that cab looks great. :metal:

And I'm also curious about where you got that power window kit? My dad did power windows in his 64, but he used a bunch of Cadillac equipment to make his own setup, and it ended up being pretty bulky, I'd like to avoid that and go with a kit like what you posted, looks small and simple. Does the place you got that kit from have anything for the '60-'63 cabs?

Re: Project '66 Dirtrod: K-30 Extended Cab

I'm actually not sure sure where all the pieces came from. I knew them about six months ago but I have since forgotten. I bought them from a guy who decided against installing them on his truck. I'll ask him next time I talk to him and let y'all know!

Thanks Tim, it's a product similar to dynamat, but our buddy likes it more. It's just like a tar may that is sticky on both sides.

With both of them now being within a mile of each other it is tempting beyond belief!!! But until we can get the '58's chassis out from under the lift then we can't do it.:mad:

But once my dads chassis is a roller, nothing with stop me. Lol

They are sprint car tierods. There are a couple local shops that have 4-7 inch ones that are all we use. I'm sure summit or jegs would have them.
