thanks John, ya i sure hope its a easy fix... sounds like it. just cut out the bad section and drill out the spot welds on the support, cut down the panel to fit and weld it in.

I'm really spoiled living in Arizona my whole life. You East and Southern guys have a lot of rust to deal with. I'm glad to see you guys repair it and replace panels. We just don't see much of it here in the dry desert, luckily.

Can never go wrong with the Coys! I contemplated back and forth for several weeks on getting them, but decided on the old school rallies for now. Still might do them down the road.

Your concept truck is remarkable!

BTW Guys.... our loan mod was denied today. not sure what were going to do... this thread is dead. atleast for now.

i'm going to put her back together over the next couple months and play things by ear. i just hope everything goes back together like it came apart... 1 good thing is i started with a clean fully functioning truck so it shouldnt be too bad... atleast the frame and suspension and brakes are new!Dennis

JohnC 10-07-2009 08:13 AM

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

Sorry to hear about the loan Dennis. No need to get discouraged. Not all builds or swaps go as fast and easy as others. While you start putting Silver back together just keep your eye for detail in line. You can still do a lot with not a lot of $$. You are going to have the truck for a long time. You already know how easy it is to take apart. It can be done again later. Keep your head up man, no reason to be down. You have a sweet truck, and no matter what is done to it will put a smile on your face driving it around.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

thanks John... i still cant believe this. this was not supposed to happen to us. all the planning and everything... the lender says we've been on time and current for the last 3 years so they're not even going to look at us. they say wait until it adjusts dec. 1st and if we cant make the payment, then they will reevaluate our loan and "maybe" modify.

ridiculous... have to screw up our A1 credit just to have a chance at remodifying this messed up loan were in. theres nothing out there for the good stand up people who pay there bills on time and do what they're supposed to do and didnt overbuy on their homes.

JohnC 10-07-2009 08:42 AM

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

Yeah that's the great thing about our country's economic sector now. People that are working hard, paying their bills, and trying to make it don't get the benefits. Have you looked into another lender? When we first bought our house our loan got sold to two different lenders in a year. So I refinanced with a local bank here. I actually got a better rate, more knowledge, and I know that if I have a problem I can talk to them directly. Maybe something to consider. I know right now a lot of the lenders are not lending money as easy as they were a couple of years ago.

Jonboy 10-07-2009 08:50 AM

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

Sorry to hear about your luck, Dennis. Like John said, check out a local bank, or even a credit union. We did a cash out refi on our house at the first of the year with a large bank (they held the original loan) and it took forever. I thought that it should go quick since it would be all internal, but I was dead wrong. I wish I had shopped it around a little bit. I think the smaller banks realize that they need to make money too, so they are a little more receptive lately. The only problem is that around here, they all keep getting bought out by the bigger, lousy service banks.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

yea, the great thing about this wonderful state is we bought this house worth $340,000 at the time and paid $280,000. now 3 years later its worth $200k if were lucky. no one will touch it. and people wonder why there is so many foreclosures... we are stuck right now. and all our options are not good ones.

menace121978 10-07-2009 08:59 AM

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

our "financial advisor" really screwed us over getting into this house and what makes me sick is that we (I) didnt know any better. i made a promise to my wife that things would be okay and i'll be damned if i'm going to let anything bad happen to her/us like loosing or home.

Jonboy 10-07-2009 08:59 AM

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

I hear you. I have a rent house, and the tenants have not paid since May. I can't get them out. My only choice to keep from destroying my credit is to pay two mortgages, and hope the courts will finally let me evict them. The only good thing about this is as soon as it is empty, I am selling it just to get away from it. Then I am going to buy a toy. Want to move to Texas?

JohnC 10-07-2009 09:00 AM

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

Another good reason to move out of CA. just kidding man. I hate to hear you are going through this. Like I said before keep your head up, and just take it one day at a time. Remember we are here to help in any way we can, and even if it's just for you to vent. You can do it man, you have it in you!!!

LEEVON 10-07-2009 11:24 PM

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

Sorry to hear about the house Dennis. The build is still awesome, I don't like it when they go too quick anyway!

We're going through a similar situation, moved from FL 3 years ago and the house never sold, owe $250K and paid every bill (on two houses) until recently we decided that throwing another $75K down a black hole while the market recovers for 3 more years is not an option plus we lost the renter. Every bank and program considers us "investers" since it's not our primary residence, no loan mods even entertained. Accepted an offer of $130K yesterday trying to get short sale approval. 740 credit scores are now in the tank and home ownership went from a dream to a nightmare.

BUT!!!...we'll all get over it and someday be telling our grandkids about the great housing crash wayyyy back in 'Ought-Seven'.

Man that sucks Dennis . I just logged on and decided to check on your progress . Instead I read about the refi issues . Definitely a downer . I am sure you will come out OK since you obviously arent one to bail , but it sucks that people have to default and actually wreck their credit , in order to get assistance . Seems familiar doesnt it . Govt passes laws and forces banks to make bad loans in the first place , said loans crash the housing market when bad loan holders cant pay , then the only people that are eligible for help in the first round is that same deadbeats that have defaulted on the loans that everyone knew they would default on when the loan was made . Sorry for the rant and I hope things work out for you quickly .
Frank

Just as others have said and you, it is insane. This is what's become of the market? What's the old saying, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure? It's figuratively speaking but you should not have to get the flu to get help, they should give you the flu shot before hand. It's kind of an odd way to put it but it makes sense to me. I wonder if/when this market will turn around because right now a lot of good people are getting screwed everyday.
