Got these also (really nice originals) but will hold onto them until my next build...going to keep looking for a good deal on some NOS ones....

Got repop A/C balls but waiting for Junkyardjohn to see if he can find some he has that are actually chromed steel.

And the center vent is SUPER nice...it's really heavy...seems better than a repop but not sure....

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Super Short Fleet Big Block build!

I had one NOS outer handle but couldn't pass up a set....notice the lock piece is longer on one than the other....they came that way according to Duncan and son and some others I've read. Part numbers check out. THere's a line to cut off and then re-shape the end. Some NOS I've seen had some imperfections...these are MINT!!!

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Super Short Fleet Big Block build!

And these are the nicest pieces I got today....although there were some shipping scratches I have to work out with CSM....but these are bead blasted and then painted and then color sanded and buffed pulleys/brackets done by his son. And the PS pump was rebuilt, and the reservoir cap polished.

The carb was taken apart, dipped, rebuilt, and then completely detailed to as new condition. Most I've ever spent on a carb, but it'll be worth it!!!

Are you going to make a profit at $40K?

But you probably will at $65K. :smoke:

Man, that stuff is nice.

Not as much profit as I'd like :D

But I know to demand top dollar I have to use top parts on it!

I'm WAAAY over my original budget, but the truck is going to be WAAAY nicer than I originally planned ;)

It's a Short wheel base Big Block Cheyenne super that's LOADED....I can't skimp :metal::chevy:

I don't have the reputation Jerry Brown or CSM have for these trucks....but I am confident I will be putting a truck out on par with their trucks. (Heck, all the main stuff was done by CSM anyways )

If I got close to that figure I'd be REAL happy :D

The cool thing is that some of the parts I've gotten from CSM have been parts intended for their personal vehicles and they put extra time/attention into accordingly. So I really do have the best of the best parts for this truck!!!

Well, today's moving day ;)

Going to do a little more sanding this afternoon and then the truck will be going to Jason's to get the welding and body work done!

You think it makes YOU sick ;)

I've gotten pretty fair prices for everything, but you've seen NOS pricing, right :waah:

:waah:

I will have as much in PARTS for this truck as I had invested in my ENTIRE last build including the cost of the blazer.

Speaking of that...I need to go sell some more parts.....

what did you say you were using the knotted wire wheels for???...was it for stripping the bottom of the cab??

yes, for all the hard to reach areas under the cab. For the flat surfaces I still have the paint stripper discs.

I also used them for the drip rails, wiring channel, inside the door jams, window channels...all the thinner areas they work perfect for...

...why do you ask?

You can come do mine after you finish yours

Well...once again there were showers so we didn't move the truck tonight. Planning on tomorrow if there is no rain.

My brother in law came over and helped me get the bed off the frame.

I have someone local coming wednesday to buy that and some other parts.

Getting a new bed will help gain back a few days I lost since it'll be ready for paint once I scuff and assemble it.

Starting a thread tonight on opinions on wood or steel floor bed....I'm back to leaning towards wood again.....all of CSM's top dollar trucks had wood beds....

Oh I do! In fact, I started to make a spread sheet containing all of the NOS parts that I have purchased, not counting the perfect used/restored parts that I have purchased. I am primarily trying to make an NOS parts list for NOS part numbers needed for an NOS build. I got a little sick when I added a price column and added a SUM function and saw how much I had invested so far. And it seems that when I think that I've included all the NOS parts on the list that I have, I remember more that I have picked up. So, I have since put back on my blinders  and will ignore what things cost in the future. If I need it, that's the way it is.

By the way, nice collection of parts you have accumulated, and at such a fast pace. :metal:

Thanks guys,

Truck is at Jason's shop now. Took a few more little things I noticed out including the seatbelts I'd left in until now...

Also noticed some more hidden rust around the rockers that I hadn't with the lack of room/lighting in my shop....so there will be some more patching involved probably including taking the new rockers off :(

But Jason's great with metal and welding so it'll be as good (or better) than new soon enough :D

Busy day with Church and family get together tomorrow so probably no updates until Monday or even tuesday because I have plans all day Monday also....

Thanks!

Been slow on the updates. Jason's started on the truck but I haven't been over to check it out. I've been slammed between family events and just kids in general :D, looking for work, working a side job, selling the parts here, and getting ready for Charlotte (getting ready to head there now)

I got several more NOS parts for my truck and received my super nice restored vent windows but pics will have to wait till Sunday evening or Monday.

I hope to score a few of the last needed bits while down at Charlotte as well as selling some parts to pay for those bits ;)

Radiator hoses were off ebay...I'll look up the link later and post it.
Yeah, the wipers were also off ebay...didn't show the hecho en mexico sticker on them  But they are brand new wipers that look like my originals made by GM that I hadn't been able to find... probably really NNS (new newer stock) but still discontinued from what I've found.
