It seems a shame to make the floor look so nice, and then cover it up! Putting in some factory style tar paper. Cleaned up and repaired the original floor leveler mats.

We decided to go with carpet instead of a rubber mat. Also got the seat belts and sill plates installed.

Purchased an NOS insert. Paint was all coming off, so I blasted it clean, and repainted it.

Insert and bowtie installed. I had tried a different method of painting the letters, and wasn't happy with the results. So I bought some vinyl letters and used them for a reverse stensle. Much more correct looking.

New wipers installed. Original carpet strip wasn't quite nice enough to reuse. I went with a wood bed strip, in stainless. These work really nice for a replacement!

Got the seats back from my interior guy. Material had to be sourced from SMS, as they were the only place on the planet with the correct material. It is NOS material, dated 7-71 on the backside.

Drivers seat had a twist and had to be straightened.
Black covering on bottom side of seats isn't original, but it looks a lot nicer than the bare foam.

I couldn't find any material listings for our trucks (only cars) so you'll have to call.

I have the same radio. For the money, I'm a little put off at the quality of the push buttons , they should be radiused not square edged. Did you notice? Just bugs me.

Wow! I didn't realize how long it's been since I posted pics. Here are some more.
Joel decided on some Foose Legend series wheels. Went with 18"x8", all the way around.

Since this blazer isn't slammed on the ground, we went with a tire with some sidewall, rather than some o-ring tires.

Since this thing was pretty much finished at this point, except for some minor things, I entered it in our local car show. It's not a huge show, but one of "big" local car events. I think they had 160 entrys this year. It showed pretty well. It won first in its class, as well as best paint, which also paid $500. Hopefully that means his check will be good for the bill. LOL!! Here are some pics from the show that my daughter took with her cell phone. (The indoor pics look really orange inside)

And a couple more.
Joel picked this up and drove it a little this summer. He took it to the "Wheel Jam" in Huron S.D. for a show, where he picked up a first place. He than brought it out for "Kool Deadwood Nights" where he won a nice 1st place trophy in the truck class, as well as putting 300 miles on the blazer, during the event.
Now he just has to get over his fear of driving it, and having something happen to his baby!

After Deadwood, Joel left the blazer with me to fix a small trans leak, from the shifter shaft. He told me I should take my family for a ride. He didn't have to tell me twice! Here are some pics of our trip through Spearfish Canyon, on a beautifull 65-70 degree day.

Here are a couple more. Joel has been too busy farming to come and pick the blazer up. They say that possession is 9/10's the law. I don't think he's getting it back! At least not untill I can drive mine anyway!

I felt the same way. I went with 18" rims too.

Thanks for the compliments guys! This thing is an absolute joy to drive! My kids really liked how people on the hiway would smile, wave, and give the thumbs up, as they passed. I seriously don't want to give the blazer back. It really gets my motivation going, to get my blazer back on the road.

Awesome work? Where did you get the NOS inner grille? Are they still available? Was the outer one and the emblem also NOS?

turp mcspray 12-10-2012 12:05 PM

Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer

I bought the inner grille from a board member. GM has discontinued them, but there are sure to be some still out there. The last batch that GM made are not painted silver. They come in a very dark gray, not quite black, colored plastic. The outer shell and the emblem are also GM. The owner of the blazer purchase them from a GM dealer, several years ago.

Where did you acquire the top from. Been looking for one for a 69 and have come up short. I currently have one but fiberglass is a foreign substance to me. Much happier playing with metal.

turp mcspray 12-14-2012 11:11 AM

Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer

I used the top from my blazer, for fitting purposes, while working on this one. We still need to find a top as well.
