Here is the 66 impala telescopic wheel installed. This moved the rim of the wheel back to 9 3/4" from the gauges and I can move it out to 13". that is a nice range.

Thanks to photoshop here's the interior with the tele wheel. I like the 2 tone wheel but will probably keep it all 1 color.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Looking really good rod!

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Hey Rod, I looked at your door panels and have an idea for your switchs how they are mounted. we will have to talk in the near future to discuss it.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Wow! You do excellent work, your truck is fantastic!

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Looks awesome uncle. Great to finally be able to post on here.

Thinking about adding a original style tool box in the bed side. Would be real nice to store extra stuff. Her is pic' of another members work. Just not sure how to make the 67 68 moulding work with this set up.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Incredible build. If you still need a shift indicator let me know, I've got one I'm not using.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I just bought one on the weekend

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I just came across your build. You've done some great work on it. Don't be surprised when you see some of your ideas popping up on other builds on here.
|
Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Wow you take attention to detail to another level. Awesome build can't wait to see what it looks like when done.
|
Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Thanks for the words guys. Really appreciate it. I have located a bed side tool box close to home so I am going to hopefully pick it up next weekend. I will be working it into the passenger side of the bed just as if it were factory.

I got some Cadillac power seat stuff and I am toying with them. I took out the forward and backward track and I can make it work very nicely. Only thing is it makes my seats sit 1" higher because of the worm gear mechanism. Not sure if that will make a big difference. I can make it completely reversible so well see. I will make both passenger and driver power if I do this. left track is the power one and the right is stock in the pic.

Here are the sliders all cleaned and greased. Going to have to make shorter cables.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Couldn't stop reading, the things you done and are doing, well done and great. Sure is and gonna be one heck of a nice truck. Ya know, I thought white top all the way but with that chrome trim, man I say all black now. That is one truck I'd like to see when done. You sure you can't do all the body work yourself, lol
Thanks for the boost Nick |

I'm glad you like it. Here is a picture of the driver side power seat tracks on the frame. I have another motor so I may buy another set of tracks and make the pass power too. Well see.

This is how much higher the seat will sit. Only 1".

Well I guess I'm doing The pass side too. Here's how it lays out. Hope it does not turn upside down. My phone does that sometimes. I think I know how I'm going to do the switches without touching the seat material but I'll leave that for later.

Here is the tool box I pick up close to home. It will need some work but that's ok.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I was going to ask for some pics once you got the box in but judging from the documentation you've done up to now it didn't matter I forgot. Looks great and getting better. Nice work!

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Yeah I'm going to bring it to James next week and he is going to start installing it into the pass bedside. I'm super excited about it. I'll make sure you get to see the pictures.

I added these pieces under the vent windows. they came on some 70-71 blazers to help tighten up the door seal. kind of the pre-version of the 72 doors.

Chad did a passenger side view rendering of my truck with the tool box in the bed side. here it is with a white and black roof.

I got a original style gear selector lens. with the telescopic column this was the most challenging thing to make the gear selector light up properly. moved the neutral switch up and had to shorten the intermediate shaft and the column mods are complete.

Got the driver side sliders done tonight. I moved the pins so the seat can only go so far back and it won't hit the back wall of the cab.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I had to change my motor location. If I mount it here the seat moves faster and the cables don't hack to bend.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

Here is how the bottom of the seat mounted looks. If you wanted to go back to the manual sliders this is completely reversable.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

The passenger side is complete except the wiring and switch. I finished the mechanism for the driver side as well. Here is the pass seat and the console mounted. the pass seat is a little bit higher now than the console cause of the 1" I raised it for the power tracks but should be ok. I cant raise the console because the Velcro strap wouldn't line up to keep it open but probably wouldn't anyway.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I think I'm going to lower the seat frame so that the seats sit level. The more I look at it the more I don't like them offset.
|
Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I agree the seats need to be level. Just another example of how you look at every detail of your build. Always tuning in just to see what you have come up with new. Great work!

I may try to use my mosified cst horn button from my other wheel on my telescopic wheel. This may not be possible but it would look nice.

Here is a picture of the power seat switches i'll be using. it is hard to find a 2 way power seat switch. wow everything out there is a 6 way. from gm they had to come from a limo. Also I am toying with the idea of adding heated seats. I would be putting a new modern set up in the truck. 1966 Cadillac had heated seats optional and here is what the switch looks like. I am trying to have one made by someone with a cnc machine. If he can make it I will probably do it and mount the switch on the bottom of the dash beside the a/c vent. may just do driver seat but unsure.

James did an awesome job finishing up the seat frame. He lifted the back under the console so the stock jack can still be removed when needed. The seats sit nice now and the full use of the tilt telescopic wheel can be used!

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

This switch bezel is exactly the same as the seat heat switch. Here is where they will mount. Just it will be flush with the bottom of the dash so all you would see is the words. I think if the modern harness will work with these switches I will do this mod.
