I have a question for you. Do you want us to submit the paperwork for our own trucks or send it to someone?

Your choice. Posting in the thread is preferred in my opinion because it helps avoid typos and errors. Or you can pm 57taskforce or myself.

Sorry I have no idea of build date, but have I found the first Baltimore 72 GMC for the list? Photo is from glove compartment door that’s for sale.

Found this interesting. Here is a 4/71 Flint built truck on BAT that has matching vin # on the frame, SPID, and metal door tag. However the blue decal on the door has the next consecutive vin # printed on it. Could it be a two trucks were ordered by the same company, or individual and they got the decals mixed up? I don’t think this would have passed inspection?

I actually had this one on post 314. Definitely odd. My guess is the sticker is wrong and the other vin instances are correct. Would be interesting to see the sticker for the truck with vin plate ending in 68.

That’s not the answer, that’s only going to cause confusion. I’m working a lot right now as oil and gas is booming, and I have a relatively new born along with my older two kids and wife. I apologize for the delay and as soon as I can get a few evenings to sit down and catch it up I will. I do keep up with every update in this thread even if I may seem distant.

I've also got some frustrations with the capabilities of the forum/website software that add some challenges to this project. But I agree with taskforce on the confusion piece... I think we carry on with what we have and make it work. I'll keep trying to provide a link to my lists on my most recent post if that helps anyone.

I am now updated through this post (334).

GMC list

Chevy list

One other thing I've been thinking about (and am open to discussion on):

If there isn't much value in a serial number (ie. unknown build date, or if the same information such as the build month could have been determined from two serial numbers already on the list), I don't think we should add it to the list. It clutters the thread and the list. Some exceptions I propose are 1) if it is potentially the last serial number for that plant and year, 2) you want to see your truck's serial number on the list, 3) it is the only serial number for a given plant/year on the list, or 4) it is potentially the last Blazer or Jimmy built at the St. Louis plant in 1972 (appears to be sometime in March '72).

Let's keep truckin! :metal::chevy:

Thanks for posting! I'll get the 2B truck added to the list and the Pontiac GMC seems to be a rare and valuable addition too. However, we could already confidently infer that the 2Z truck you posted is a June build, so I'm going to leave that one off the list since the web page allows a maximum number of characters per post. Similarly, the 72 Jimmy doesn't provide much new value without any dates.

Based on the last picture in post 355 it appears my build month decoder (post 311) may be wrong for 71-72.

Depending on how many digits you want to share, yes, it could still be helpful.

I'm curious about a September protecto plate in particular. We don't have any examples on our thread. I want to know if a "I" or "J" was used for the build month.
