Well after 4 years and aprox 15,000mi of only doing normal maintenance, my truck decided it wanted more one on one time with me in the shop. When we where 3hrs away camping last weekend the rad started leaking from the top solder joint. A bit of JB weld got us home pulling the camper. Had to pull rad and take to the rad shop to get it fixed. Really the only other break down was 5 years ago my spal cooling fan died, I replaced it with Derale.

It is always a plus when you can do a repair on your terms.

Got the rad back yesterday, just like new again. Installed it and went to pick up our camper for this weekend all is good. Yes CJ had to inspect the work, don't worry there was just water in it.

Last weekend I went and picked up all the rest of the parts for the '53 gmc I bought in the fall. Got lots of extra parts as well, I feel like I got a great deal. No idea when I will build this one.

The '53 GMC cab is rotten in a very interesting way, the cab is very solid other than what you see, but came with another roof. The 1980's 3500 frame is for the '54 Chevy, I'm just using the suspension.

Ooo Baby!! Christmas came early, I ordered these a month ago estimated delivery was end of August and here they are. They are Dakota Digital HDX-47C-PU I will be installing them when I do my Powerstroke swap this winter. The gauges that are in my truck right now will go into the '53 gmc

Re: My 52 GMC Build
I have have the same gauges expect in silver. I too bought a BIM module but It wouldn't work for my application. That is the only downside (besides the cost) is DD can't tell you if a BIM module is needed for sure, its kinds a trial and error (experience talking).

Re: My 52 GMC Build
I cant believe they came that fast. I ordered the same gauges at the end of November and they just came in last week!

Took my Seadoo to the lake in style Friday, back bumper was under water, good thing I have a low trailer.
Then went to a local cruise night and saw this big beast, I could not find the owner to get more details, but I have seen it around town for years. Attachment 2204267 Attachment 2204268 |

Well I finally started on the 7.3L powerstroke buildup. Took me about 2hrs to get the old stuff off I'm not using, and clean out the 2lb of dirt from the valley. Transmission is going out to get a rebuild/beef up to handle power. Cylinder heads are going to the engine shop to get new valve seals and my upgraded valve springs.

Well my son and I went on our annual boys camping trip, since it was just the 2 of us this year we decided to bring the Seadoo as well. It is legal to double tow in Ontario as long as you have a pickup/commercial vehicle and everything is capable and fully hooked up. So away we went, didn't even know it was way back there. I do have a backup camera on the trailer so I was able to keep an eye on it. 2.5hr drive later in weather that feels like over 100* we unhooked the Seadoo and backed in the trailer to our spot. Came home yesterday had a great trip.

I forgot to show how I cleaned the motor off initially, plastic over the whole trailer set motor and stand on, degrease and power wash. Worked quite well.
Then motor tear down continues need to get the heads to the machine shop to get the valves lapped and valve springs replaced. Everything looks great so far. Attachment 2210782 Attachment 2210783 Attachment 2210784 Attachment 2210785 Attachment 2210786 |
